Oceansfull 2018

"For generations, the othmir have been giving thanks to Prexus at this time of year for all he provides, above and beneath the waves. You are welcome to join any you may find celebrating along the oceans' edge, across Norrath. They say if you search the waters nearby their celebration locations, you're bound to find evidence of Prexus' generosity."

Long have the othmir celebrated the bounty of the Ocean Lord, the deity known as Prexus. For the first time in Norrathian history, however, they are giving all outsiders a view of their quiet Oceansfull festival. Come, join me in a first look at this quiet festival, which will run from June 8, 2018 through June 18, 2018.

Quiet?

While most of our Norrathian world events are wide, sweeping things that have grown over the years from simple beginnings to heavily-laden events, this event is not one of those events. This is a mellow little festival thrown by the (relatively) simple race, the othmir. There is plenty of room for it to grow in future years if the game developers decide to go that route but for this year at least, consider it a gentle palate cleanser between the heavy hitting spring event load and the upcoming Tinkerfest event. There will be nothing to craft, no quests other than the collection quest, only one easy-to-complete achievement, and some free house items and appearance items to snag.

All Outsiders?

Yes, they welcome all outsiders to join in their celebration, even on the TLE servers. While some zones will not be available on the TLE servers, you don't need to access those zones to get the items, finish the collection or finish the achievement.

Ocean's Edge?

Yes, the announcement is a bit cryptic. Norrath (and beyond) includes a lot of ocean-front property. Only 11 of those zones are going to be used for the celebration, however. In each case you are looking for a small group of othmir, shooting off random fireworks, as pictured at the very top and the bottom of the page. The locations are as follows:

Since there is no quest involved, pick one of the above locations, and go diving.

Wait - Diving?

Yep. Diving. If you don't have racial or class-based water-breathing, and don't have a Fishbone earring, you will want to invest in either otter totems (craftsman recipe), or make a rebreather (tinkerer recipe). You'll be underwater a lot if you want to get all the goodies from the giant clams.

Giant Clams?

Giant clams will be found in the water in the general area of the othmir celebrators in each of the above locations. They cannot be tracked, but are large enough to be easy to see.

Click on the shell, and it will open up and contain a dark, pearl-like gift. (It will be named "____'s gift", with your name in the blank if you are the one who opened it.) Clicking on the gift will then result in one of 20 possible items. There is a 10-second-ish delay (guesstimate, not timed) after clicking on one shell before you can click on another.

20 Possible Items?

All items are fully tradeable, and stack. The two illusions look utterly different on male characters as they do on female characters, so ladies will want to refer to the images contained here, NOT what the in-game preview shows you.

There is one hidden achievement, complete with a title, for opening 25 of the shells, and that appears to be it on the achievement front.

And that's it for the event, other than the collection.

Collection?

There is a nine-piece collection for an appearance cloak. Each zone has three pieces of the collection, so you will want to visit at least three zones to complete it. The breakdown is as follows:

The reward is Saltscale Cloak:

Closer Look?

Want a closer look at the new house items? Ocarinah/Building Inspector has done a short version and a full version. Thanks, Ocarinah!

Quest Tracker?

It is a bit belated, but we have a quest tracker from Casdoe of Maj'Dul for tracking the achievement and the collection for your alts. Oceansfull tracker in XLS form and there is also a PDF version..
