Were Is the Messenger Walkthrough by Taled of Maj'Dul

Getting Started:

You must be a level 120 (or higher) crafter to obtain this quest.

Check your mail for a "Short-Term Job Offer" from Captain Ethan Darani. Accept the quest "Were is the Messenger: Local Living" and then fast travel or take a bell to the 'Svarni Expanse', the entrance zone of the Vetrovia expansion.

Talk to Representative Mairen at /way 640.14 7.29 529.25

Quest 1: 'Were Is the Messenger: Local Living'

She sends you to speak with her daughter, Alghoza, who is located in the village of Kamapor at /way 111.7, 5.9, 387.3

You talk a bit about the local area, and you are introduced to a Kinnahma (centaur) named Arpita Goyal, who is a batik artisan. Arpita suggests that the best way to learn batik is by doing, and sends you out to harvest materials so that you can learn the basic process.

A) Harvest various materials in Vetrovia:

• 15 Narra Wood (Wood node)
• 20 Amsonia Roots (Root node)
• 20 Mahngavi Mango (Bush node)
• 20 Forlorn Ore (Coalesced Stone node)
• 15 Star Diopside (Soft metal node)

B) Craft the tightly woven fabric, batik canting and bright fabric dye using the materials that you just harvested, along with celestial fuels from the fuel merchant. Then you will use those materials to make the batik fabric. (Very abbreviated batik notes for those curious: The Tightly Woven Fabric can be painted with wax designs by using the Batik Canting. Once the designs are drawn, you then drop it into one of the dyeing pools in the area that is filled with a Bright Fabric Dye to create the Batik Weaving.)

The crafting station in Kamapor is at /way 100.75 12.86 495.57 and the fuel merchant is directly beside it.

You will need:

• 10 Astral Filament
• 5 Astral Coal
• 5 Astral Candle

C) You then try to check in with Alghoza's mother, Representative Mairen at /way 640.14 7.29 529.25 only to find she isn't there. You speak to Rithsar in this same area instead.

[TS QUEST ONE COMPLETE]

You receive a lovely chunk of tradeskill xp, over 5 platinum, guild status, Far Seas Supply Division Faction and a lovely Teal Batik Tapestry house item.

Quest 2: Pick up 'Were is the Messenger: Different Tastes' from Rithsar at /way 640.14 7.29 529.25

• Speak with Alghoza in Kamapor at /way 110.45 5.92 388.04 (MAKE SURE YOU FINISH HER DIALOGUE - Quest update is not all!). You then end up with a pet version of her following you for the rest of the quest.
• Travel to a river island upstream of Kamapor - /way -172.05 39.90 -137.12
• Once you have received the update for arriving on the island, speak to Alghoza
• Harvest the Svarni Spices at /way -181.81 41.22 -142.62 (On the island)
• You will need 10 svarni silverfin and 10 narra wood. You can already have these items with you, or you can harvest them on this step.
• Start a campfire - Click the wood at /way -180.42 39.74 -130.84
• Cook the Svarni Seasoned Fish on the campfire. You need 5 astral kindling.
• You will need 20 wild rice and 5 mahngavi mango that you can either bring with you or can harvest upon this step.
• Harvest Kiraberry Tea Leaves at /way -188.74 39.79 -125.33 (On the island)
• Raid a vulrich nest at /way 157.55 7.43 -163.41
• Craft the Kinnahma Casserole. You will need 5 Astral Kindling in addition to the already-listed items.
• Return to Apita Goyal in Kamapor at /way 112.96 5.92 388.64
• Look for Mairen - Return to Rithsar at /way 642.06 7.27 529.51

[TS QUEST TWO COMPLETE]. You may now fly within Svarni Expanse!

You receive another large chunk of tradeskill xp, guild status, Far Seas Supply Division faction, just over 5 platinum and a Saberbeak Stork Plushie.

TS3) Pick up 'Were is the Messenger: Find the Father' from Rithsar at /way 642.06 7.27 529.51

• Speak to Rithsar again.
• Update Alghoza's father in Karuupa Jungle. (Zone in from Svarni Expanse via the plumedrake mount station at /way -31, 52, 550)
• Speak to Piccolo at /way 524.30 144.88 -597.07
• Speak to Piccolo again.
• Harvest various materials in Vetrovia:
  • 50 Amsonia Roots (Root nodes)
  • 30 Greytusk Hides (Den nodes)
  • 15 Star Diopside (Soft metal node)
  • 25 Forlorn Ore (Coalesced Stone node)
• You will also need 1 tsavorite, 2 baptista root, and 1 deino hide, which you can bring with you or you can obtain while on the quest. (If you pull some from shared bank or a depot and the quest doesn't count them, drop them into a broker box and pull them right back out and the quest should update.)
• Craft the Child's Bedroll, Comfy Child's Blankets, Child's Pillow and Glowing Wisp Nightlight. Crafting station is at /way 533.47 144.49 -592.32, next to Piccolo's tent. You will need 15 Astral Filament and 5 Astral Coal.
• Place the items in the tent at /way 525.75 145.18 -589.75

TS4) Accept the quest 'Were is the Messenger: Simple Gifts' that is automatically granted on completing Q3

(Click on the tent to be re-offered the quest if you deleted/refused the quest.) You will need to provide the following materials: 10 narra wood, 10 amsonia roots, 10 greytusk hide, 15 mahngavi mango, 20 amsonia roots, 10 forlorn ore, 10 star diopside, 1 kamapor tea, 5 astral candle, 10 astral coal, 40 astral incense.

• Craft 5 sheaf of paper.
• Craft the journal binding.
• Craft the vial of purple ink.
• Craft Alghoza's Journal.
• Craft the small metallic links.
• Craft the amulet enchantment scroll.
• Craft the ensorcelled broadcasting amulet.
• Give the gifts to Alghoza in Karuupa Jungle at /way 525.40 144.94 -592.67

TS5) Pick up the quest 'Were is the Messenger: Covers and Crunchies' from Alghoza in Karuupa Jungle at /way 525.40 144.94 -592.67

• Speak with Piccolo
• Speak with Mibb Deinotamer in Karuupa Jungle at /way 521.50 145.21 -586.51
• Craft the 5 Deino Saddle Blankets. You will need 10 greytusk hide, 50 amsonia roots, and 25 astral filament.
• Speak to Mibb Deinotamer
• Craft two Deino Treats. You will need 4 amsonia roots, 10 mahngavi mango, 10 wild rice, 10 astral kindling.
• Feed them to the 'a placid deino' at /way 520.88 145.46 -583.67
• Wait for the ride to end.
• Speak to Fivalt at the end of the ride. (/way -802.97 175.09 -710.70)

TS6) Pick up the quest 'Were is the Messenger: Say Cheese' from Fivalt at /way -802.97 175.09 -710.70

• Speak to Fivalt
• Gather the ingredients from the boxes next to Fivalt. (/way -801.91 175.10 -705.60)
• Craft the cheesecloth. You will need 20 amsonia roots, 10 greytusk hides, 1 baptista root, and 5 astral filament
• Craft the Mahngavi Meunster. You will need 5 astral kindling.
• Speak to Fivalt
• Craft the potion of perpetual purging. You will need 25 wild rhino meat, 20 mahngavi mango, 20 amsonia roots, 1 pteradon meat, and 5 astral candle.
• Speak to Fivalt, who flees, complaining about the lack of bathrooms.
• Enter Mahngavi Wastes by clicking on the large stone "Fivalt's Quick Exit" that he left behind.
• Search the debris in Mahngavi Wastes at /way 308, 151, 651.

TS7) Accept the quest 'Were is the Messenger: Wild Ride' that is auto-granted.

Should you delete the quest for any reason, you can regain it by clicking on a restless deino at /way 297, 150, 684

• 'Try to feed the deino a treat' - Click the deino
• Craft a meaty deino treat. Crafting station is at /way 392.85 103.44 460.69 and you will need 5 wild rhino meat, 15 wild rice, 15 amsonia roots and 5 astral kindling
• Return and give the deino the treat.
• Speak to Assistant Virdell at the end of the ride.

TS8) Pick up the quest 'Were is the Messenger: Mad Machinations' from Assistant Virdell at /way 392.85 103.44 460.69

• Speak with Virdell
• Harvest the following:
• 25 Amsonia Roots (Root nodes)
• 5 Deino Hide (Den nodes)
• 20 Star Diopside (Soft metal nodes)
• Craft 5 Scroll of Enhanced Undead Control. You will also need 5 astral incense.
• Speak to Virdell. (Twice!)
• Gather the ghoul gruel

TS9) Pick up the quest 'Were is the Messenger: 'Ware the Were' from Assistant Virdell in Mahngavi Wastes at /way 392.85 103.44 460.69

• Enter Renfry's Basement in Little Town in Forlorn Gist at /way -364.03 14.47 75.16
• Speak with Renfry
• Craft 2 Forlorn Barricades, 1 Gist Ballista, and 1 Protection from Werewolves. Youi will need 30 forlorn ore, 30 narra wood, 15 greytusk hide, 10 amsonia root, 10 star diopside, 1 tsavorite 3 astral sandpaper, and 1 astral incense.
• Speak to Renfry again

TS10) Pick up the quest 'Were is the Messenger: 'Where the Weres Are' from Renfry or the corpse in Renfry's Basement in Forlorn Gist

• Exit the basement to Forlorn Gist
• Use the 'Illusion: Werewolf' potion
• Collect the following:
• 27 twisted bits of metal
• 33 wooden scraps
• 6 shredded werewolf fur
• 21 dirt-encrusted stone
• 6 dessicated bone
• 12 ectoplasmic goo
• 6 cocooned critter
• 12 sturdy spiderweb
• 21 animated roots
• Return to Renfry's basement in Little Town in Forlorn Gist at /way -364.03 14.47 75.16
• Speak to Renfry
• Craft the sturdy station base. You will need 5 astral coal.
• Craft the bobbing tabletop thingie. You will need 5 astral coal.
• Craft the esoteric tools. You will need 5 astral coal.
• Craft the scroll of equipment enhancement. You will need 5 astral incense.
• Craft the far seas crafting station (failed reactions are deadly, be careful!) You will need 5 astral coal.
• Return to Renfry
• Speak to Piccolo in Svarni Expanse, at /way 640.09 7.28 529.34
• Speak to Rithsar in Svarni Expanse, at /way 640.09 7.28 529.34

You MUST have the Illusion: Werewolf on you in order to see the special Forlorn Gist harvests (as well as to avoid aggro in the zone). If you lose the illusion before you have harvested and crafted the crafting station, then you can buy an additional potion from Ziggy, the fuel vendor in Renfry's Basement.
