Panda, Panda, Panda 2023

The pandamonium for 2023 kicked off on Sept. 26, 2023, with the 7th annual "Days of Summer/Panda, Panda, Panda". (The event was named Days of Summer for several years before being renamed to Panda, Panda, Panda.) For a period of nine weeks one quest a week will unlock on Bao Bao near the wizard spires in the Sundered Frontier. (All quests after the first after-patch one will unlock at 12:01 a.m. Pacific each Tuesday.) The quests can be completed any time after they unlock, and are permanent additions to the game, so if you don't get to them for a few weeks/months/etc., you can do them all in a bunch later.

The unlock flag is account-wide, so you only need to do this questline once per account.

Before I get too deeply into the quest and reward information, I also want to remind people that the non-housing items (adventuring gear, adornments) are only visible if you are the appropriate level, so you won't see the newest gear on Pas Yu unless you are level 125. Furniture bundles and so forth should be visible at any level, once you complete the associated quest.

The Quests - Beginner Botany

Bao Bao, grandson of Yun Zi, would like to study botany, but there isn't a lot of biodiversity in the Sundered Frontier. Could you help this young panda by getting him samples from various lower-level regions of Norrath?

This section will be updated weekly to cover each quest as it is released. Locations are approximate, as all items have multiple locations of than the acorns in the first quest.

Week One (available starting Sept. 26, 2923): Beginner Botany: Antonican Flora

Bao Bao would like you to start with samples from Antonica.

  • Some acorns from Archer's Woods are first up. None seem to be on the ground, but nobody should mind if you snag a few from the acorn chest at -709, -3, 605, right? ... Right?
  • Pine cones from pine trees at the top of a waterfall are next on the list. Try both side of the water, starting at around -1793, 62, 933
  • Produce from the Norhtern Farmlands sounds like a good idea, maybe check the fields around -1903, -18, -135

Return to Bao Bao to complete the quest and to unlock the week 1 rewards from the merchant, Pas Yu.

Week 2 (available starting Oct. 3, 2023) Beginner Botany: Commonlands Plants

Next up, Bao Bao would like some plant variety from the Commonlands:

  • Tree leaves from the Savannah area around the druid ring is a good first
  • Bark from the trees in the Forgotten Valley is next up. Start checking the area around 549, -54, 512
  • Some grave moss from the Turmoil Cemetary rounds out your Commonlands scrounging, around -1304, -69, 341

Return to Bao Bao to complete the quest and to unlock the week 2 rewards from the merchant, Pas Yu.

Week 3 (available starting Oct. 10, 2023) Beginner Botany: Darklight Diversity

This week Bao Bao would like samples from the Darklight Woods:

  • More pinecones, just to check for differences. Check around the Sablevein Tear, around -538, -56, 285

Return to Bao Bao to complete the quest and to unlock the week 3 rewards from the merchant, Pas Yu.

Week 4 (available starting Oct. 17, 2022) Beginner Botany: Greater Faydark

You should know the drill by now. To Greater Faydark!

  • Emerald Lake Shelf Fungus can be found on above of some of the huge fungi that you can climb up to. One spot should be around -821, 87, 232
  • Water reeds around Tunare's Sapling should be found around -104, 0, 28
  • Kelp can be found around the Shores of Growth, somewhere around -317, -69, -708

Return to Bao Bao to complete the quest and to unlock the week 4 rewards from the merchant, Pas Yu.

Week 5 (available starting Oct. 24 2023) Beginner Botany: Frostfang ?Flora

You might be wishing you had thick fur like Bao Bao as you have to wander around the frigid Frostfang Sea area:

  • Crustose Spores can be found around the Pilgrim's Landing around -170, -828, 295
  • Driftwood from Ry'Gorr Isle can be found around 906, 36, -260
