First off, at midnight Pacific, Nights of the Dead 2024 will begin on all servers other than Anashti Sul. I apologize for leaving this preview until the very last moment, but life has been chaotic.

It is not just me trying to get the tradeskill line into place, which is chaos enough, but also that nasty thing called Real Life. I will not go into details of the medical mess here, but I am likely to be unavailable a lot for several months, starting at the end of this month. Go gently on me, please.

Due to all the chaos, I may not be available for Extra Life Game Day streaming as I had hoped. I am still raising money for Extra Life this year, and donating via my fundraising page does get you various EQ and EQ2 claim codes based on how much you donate, but I might not be able to stream to do that extra little bit of fundraising for sick kids. October 08, 2024 - The Year of Darkpaw Crafter Fix

From the patch notes today:

Corrected an issue that would prevent The Year of Darkpaw Crafter from triggering some of its component events. Players that have already qualified for those events will find their achievement fixed upon logging in or zoning.

If you find that the master achievement is still not recording an earned achievement properly, please post in the forums, but people "should" be fixed now. Trust me, you don't want to know how much I have cursed our achievement system because of this. :D

October 01, 2024 - Still Here

Yes, I am still here, just so very swamped with RL stuff and work that I am way behind on touching the websites. I will have a Nights of the Dead preview up at some point this week, but I have been really low-energy, and what energy I have has been going towards my own health, and dealing with expansion stuff at work. July 22, 2024 - Extra Life 2024 News

Extra Life has named Daybreak Games as their 2023 partner of the year. For those of you unfamiliar with Extra Life, it is an American and Canadian charity that has gamers raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, allowing us to "play it forward" to help sick kids. It is a phenomenal charity, and in November I will once again be participating in a 24-hour Extra Life gaming marathon. Also again this year, EverQuest and EverQuest II have in-game incentives for those who donate as well as those who fundraise, stream, etc. Information on the EverQuest incentives can be found here. Information on the EverQuest II incentives can be found here. While it is not necessary that you sponsor me your 2024 donation must be made to someone listed on the Darkpaw Games Extra Life roster in order to qualify for the rewards. Anyone doing so at any time during 2024 will qualify, though the rewards will not be granted until late in the year.

June 11, 2024 - Fippy Fest Incoming!

June 05, 2024 - Tomorrow!

Tinkerfest and the Summer Jubilee begin tomorrow. I absolutely needed to show off this handsome Orange Toyger (Yes, my ginger kitty is even more gorgeous, please stop stepping on me to get my attention.) While my new headset decided it didn't want to talk to Debut, you can hear the cat "talking" (Yes, yes, you talk even more than the virtual cat does, dear Hood, now please stop "shouting" in my ear for attention.) and even a bit of purring. (Yes, yes! I know your purr is even better, thank you for gracing me with it you big goofy lovebug!) I saved the best of the pet commands for last "Set trap". (I know, I know, the tummy is not a trap, at all. I will pet it as soon as I finish putting this article up. Ok you gorgeous lovemonster?)

Can you tell I had a helping paw with this? ;)

June 02, 2024 - Tinkerfest, Summer Jubilee

Amidst all the busy scheduling right now, June snuck up on me. (Gah, I need to find the hubbyogre a birthday gift for later in the month, aiyeee!) Tinkerfest 2024 begins on June 6, which means that it will also be time for the Summer Jubilee 2024 to also begin at the same time. I will try to do up a video to show off the new tinkered tub effect and the actions on the orange toyger fluff pet from the Jubilee, but I am unsure when/if those will be linked onto the above pages. Other than that, expect me to be extra quiet for a while, as Fippy Fest is less than two weeks away and that will take every spare "spoon" I have and then some. I hope to see a couple of you there!

April 09, 2024 - GU125 is Here!

Not all heroes are adventurers, and there are rewards to be found for artisans who perform heroic actions as well! In search of brave tradeskillers to cause delays and disruptions to the gnoll forces while adventurers try to deal with the shaman that is the leader of the invasion force. Interested level 10 and above crafters should seek out Rinndle in the Darkpaw Dugout* for further information. (*Antonica, near the Thundering Steppes griffon.)​

Go forth and quest! 42 house items, a transmute cannister that lets you pick the level tier, and a weekly mission that grants you a mana vial of the tier of your choice await you as rewards for completing Rinndle's quest. Once you finish the overall quest (which means you have also completed the mission once), you can do the mission daily by zoning into Darkpaw: Sabotage [Tradeskill]. The mission is autogranted when you zone in, and can be found in the mission timers tab of your journal.

• Overall quest (once and done) - "Sabotage and Circuses" from Rinndle in the Darkpaw Dugout
• Mission timer: search on "Darkpaw" or "Sabotage"

We are almost through the winter/spring live event mayhem at last. Phew! On April 1, the annual Bristlebane Day celebrations begin AND it will be the Highest of All High Silly Days as well, with April 1 specific content in addition to the normal Bristlebane Day content. March 26, 2024 - Much Ado About ... Some Things

Today is a busy day on the EQ2 front. There was a small patch this morning, as expected, but there is also the following going on:

• GU125 beta, with content to test from level 10 adventurer or crafter and up will launch at noon Pacific if things go as planned. There is tradeskill content in there, consisting of a mission leading you into a level 10 and up tradeskill dungeon!
• DirectX 11 goes onto beta - if you have issues, please, please, please post to the new forums as soon as possible so the issues can be addressed before this goes live. Different computer setups are needed to make sure everything is working properly, so more eyeballs on this are a good thing.
• Wait, new forums? Yep. The old ones had many issues that could not be resolved. The old forums are still around so you can read things there, but you cannot post. Your user information was copied over, so you should be able to log into the shiny New EQ2 Official Forums with no problem.

Yes, I have event previews that have to go up, namely Bristlebane Day and Beast'r (which just hit Test today and is going live in a couple days), and I will get to them as soon as possible. (Picture me doing an exhausted Kermit the Frog "muppet flail" right now with so much going on.)

March 07, 2024 - Am I Coming or Going?

"Event Season", as I call this time of year, is even more crazed than usual this time, and I have been remiss in posting as often as I feel I should. So, here, rolled into one huge ball of busy insanity is what is newsworthy right now.

• Brewday launches in a few short hours.
• the Chronoportals are still ongoing
• The Year of Darkpaw Crafter article was finally thrown up, and includes screenshots of the final reward. Isn't that crafting table gorgeous?! The March harvesting quest for the achievement was also released at the start of the month.
• Fippy Fest was announced as both a virtual and in-person event.

I think there was something else that I wanted to announce, but it went in one braincell and out another. I will post it when/if I remember what it was.

February 26, 2024 - The EverQuest Show - Dev Interviews and More!

If you have not heard of The EverQuest Show, I would recommend that you remedy that oversight soon! Fading is a longtime fan of the EverQuest franchise, and covers information regarding both EQ and EQ2. In the episode released today, there are some dev interviews scattered throughout, and a fabulous teaser at the end that gives you a sneak peek at what will be covered in upcoming episodes of the show. Keen-eyed fans will even see snippets of both Niami and Ngreth, and may wonder, like Mum still does, just what it is that Ngreth said that was bleeped out!
