It was all an act, of course, the whole evil but dumb ogress routine. Well, mostly an act. While it was true that Ngranna could play the role of the evil shadowknight to perfection, especially when those she was wreaking havoc on truly deserved to be harmed, that was about as far as it went. She had a soft spot for the helpless and innocent that she tried to keep very well hidden. Even more carefully hidden was a very sharp intellect, buried beneath a "dumb ogress" act that fooled pretty much everyone. When she was in the safety of her own home, with no authorities around, though, slipups did happen, such as her sudden eloquent speech instead of her usual mangling of the Common language. For a long moment, she glared at at the hapless fugitive, as if pondering the best approach to cover up her lapse. Meekara, meanwhile, paled, flinched, then put her hands over her ears while saying in a loud voice "l-la l-la la l-la l-la. I d-d-didn't h-hear -" "Dat's right. Yew didn't hear a t'ing, did yew? Yews gots more to lose frum de authorities den I do! Jus' 'member dat, k? Me's don't wants tew eats yews - yews tew scrawny fur me!" Meekara nodded so hard it seemed her head would fall off, and made a gesture as if locking her lips. Her eyes, however, held not only fear, but questions. "My brudder ran 'way to Keeenos when I wuz littul. Is ogre paladin nows. Deys worried I be like him and watch me, lots. Me's gots tew be meaner, more ebils, so deys not 'spect me. So I be's dumb ogress. I'se gud at it, tews!" She leered convincingly as she pasted a dumb look on her face. "Funny how much folks ignore when dere a big, green ogress saying dey look gud tew eats, an' such. An' if dat doesn't werk, flirting with 'em helps, tew! Only backfired once ..." With a shiver, Meekara paled as her imagination ran wild with what sort of being would find the flirtations of a large, green ogress with tusks and a mohawk appealing. "Ennywayyy ... yew helps me wid sumting, an' I helps yew get away, k?"
