Brewday is still going strong on all servers for a couple more days, but over on Test, we have dueling events going. Brewday launches in a couple hours, and I am finally finished the story that goes along with the Brewday 2014 Preview. Yep, I am cutting it close to the wire, but I had a really good excuse. February 05, 2014 - Curtain Call!

What does the racket of a barrel full of goblins have to do with Erollisi Day in any way, shape or form? My Muse seems to think they go together in Curtain Call, the short story to go along with the E-Day preview. Erollisi Day officially kicks off at midnight Pacific tonight (well, one minute after midnight, but close enough!), so get ready for love notes, hard candies, roses galore, and ... curtains!

January 07, 2014 - 2014 SOE Membership Changes

There was considerable hubub when SOE announced changes in membership for 2014. It was flammable enough that I would not even go near it with asbestos-lined long johns! :P Thankfully, the folks at SOE did go near it, and read it, and discuss it, and made changes accordingly.

Here is what John Smedley had to say about it:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. We listened.

Here are the basics of our revised plan. Please note - we have not had the time to do estimates of the work involved, and also we're continuing to listen. so this isn't baked just yet. Do not expect that this is all going to happen immediately. We plain don't know yet. we're doing that meeting tmw.

1) We're lowering the price of All Access to $14.99 2) We're going to make it so every subscriber to all our PC games an all access member. Basically there will be one SOE membership for our PC games. Please note there are some minor restrictions around our kids titles (simply put - if you're a 12 year old who signed up for FR you won't have access to the adult games so we'll likely leave the lower priced kids offerings as separate subscriptions for under 12 for the same low prices). 3) We're keeping the 500 SC included with the subscription instead of going to the "pick an item" system. We heard you. You didn't like the change. The only change we are making is that we're now going to make you claim it monthly. You can still hoard it though I realize this is a bit of a pain but honestly it's the best compromise we could come up with that solves the problems I mentioned in the other thread. 4) we are going to be giving our members a 10% discount in our marketplaces. 5) European players - we have an idea on how to include you in this but we need to discuss with our partners.We have a pretty good idea on this though. give us a bit of time to suss this out. 6) Nothing is changing with Player Studio items - you'll still be able to buy them with your 500SC. 7) Console titles - you'll notice I only mentioned the PC titles. Our goal is to include the PS3 and PS4 games that we have, but I want to be up front and say that isn't a done deal.

In a nutshell that's where our head is at.

As always your feedback is welcomed. Please do us a big favor and carefully think about #3. Our goal is to give you more value in the subscription to make it more attractive and making it simpler in the process. I really feel like we're making a good decision going this route. It makes things simpler and gives more value to our players.

January 01, 2014 - City Fest - New Offerings

The City Festival is being held below Gorowyn. It sells a new amethyst stained glass oval on Sanya Farshore, and Chris Weathers now sells the Gorowyn fireworks launcher. Enjoy!

Also, remember that the 50% off rebate sale on many items in the Marketplace ends at midnight Pacific on January 1. Happy New Year, all!

UPDATE (edited): Apparently the new brats on the block want to ruin the holiday for others and are claiming credit for Denial of Service attacks bringing down several game networks, including SOE. I am not going to give the blow-by-blow, but SOE folks are busy working through their holiday on this issue.

December 12, 2013 - Frostfell 2013: Snowy Facelift

As I write this, Frostfell 2013 will begin in a few short hours. (7 a.m. Pacific downtime for all servers, downtime is expected to be one hour for U.S. and two hours for EU servers.) The rough Frostfell preview that I had up has finally morphed into a more fleshed-out preview, a couple mini-stories, and two additional articles (one on the permanent Frostfell crafting stations, one on the Snowy Dwelling prestige home.) There will also be a few other non-Frostfell items of interest to crafters that will be patched during the downtime:

• Purple Adornments are now level 92.
• The Superb Purple Adornment Dislodger now has a reduced Etyma cost.
• The crafted version of the Superb Purple Adornment Dislodger is now tradable.
• Players that deleted the quest “Captain Overboard?” before completing “A Gathering Obsession Beyond the Grave” will once again be able to acquire the quest “Captain Overboard?”.

Mum-notes on the above patch items: The purple adorns dropping from level 95 to level 92 means that the new level 92 gear on the Icy Token vendor in Frostfell will have purple adorn slots in it. Also note that in addition to the superb purple adornment dislodger (which is really meant for times when you want to keep both adorns and gear), you can also use the various crafted Prismatic adorn dislodgers to remove purple adorns. (There's also an adorn dislodger on the loyalty token vendor that you can use on them.)

December 06, 2013 - Frostfell in Testing

Frostfell will be on Test for a few short days. Article writing will wait until the last minute, because testing needs to be the priority. However, I have thrown up a Frostfell placeholder page, and will be working more eye-candy onto it after some sleep. I know you folks are eager to see the new stuff.

December 02, 2013 - Tuesday Patch

The patch tomorrow morning will include the following:

Prestige houses, which previously had a max item limit of 800 or lower, have been raised to 900.

Players may now own up to 25 houses per character.

The following houses now allow mounts / flying:

• Ethernere Enclave
• Tenebrous Island Refuge
• Vale of Halfpint Delight
• StormTower Isle
• Dimensional Pocket

I have updated some of the links on the site to include information from the ToV expansion, but it will be a while before I get everything linked in, updated and/or rewritten. With Frostfell hitting Test on Wednesday, I am not sure when I will do more site cleanup, so remember to check the ToV Crafting & Housing Clearinghouse page if you are still trying to get up to speed on expansion information.

November 20, 2013 - Double Tokens for Gold Members!

This was posted a couple hours ago, and goes into effect after the patch on November 21. So, gold members, wait to do the new ToV Weekly Crafting quest until after the patch!

Starting with tomorrows update and until February 25th, 2014 all Gold Members will earn twice as many token rewards when completing quests or actions that would grant an alternate currency token! Examples include Etyma, City Tokens, Goblin Gold, etc.

If you aren't currently a Gold Member this is a great time to start. Head to EverQuest2.com to learn more!

Note: Double Tokens does not apply to currency received from PvP kills.

• Tokens for PvP kills do not double, but tokens for battlegrounds missions and such double
• Loyalty tokens double
• Nobody has asked yet about Far Seas tokens, grotto tokens and the like, but I am assuming that they (and the tokens from Frostfell next month) should be included

Update: Your quest reward box will list the base token amount, just like normal, but you will get an extra (apparently easily-missed) line of text in spatial, saying that you get extra because of being a gold member. I just tested on a Moonlight Enchantments grotto, and while the reward box said 1 elemental token, 2 tokens happily dropped into my currency tab.

November 14, 2013 - Calling All Heroes

The EQ2 anniversary celebration, the Heroes Festival, begins in a few hours, and will run through the 25th.

Also, in case folks missed it, the ToV Crafting Weekly rolled over to a new quest on Wednesday night.

November 12, 2013 - Tears of Veeshan!

Today marks the launch of the Tears of Veeshan expansion. The servers will go down at 7 a.m. Pacific and they hope that it will take under 5 hours before the servers are back up. I have been doing a lot of last-minute updates to the ToV Crafting/Housing Clearinghouse, and will do a bit more once I have had some sleep. Once the servers are back up, I will be running around like a madwoman in-game trying to catch last-minute changes and the like. (Translation: once the servers are back up, please do not expect page updates and corrections for a few hours. There will be a lot for me to wade through and a lot of distractions and interruptions.) I will add an addendum to this post when the servers are back up after the patch. ~Mum
