Water In the Desert

This is a level 50-59 tradeskill series that was added in April 2022 with the release of Game Update 118. In addition to a recipe book containing house item faucet recipes, the quest-giver will sell level 50-59 advanced tradeskill books at the end of the series.

One should never take the ability to find drinkable water in the desert for granted, as Water Finder extraordinaire, Ewart Nefird in the Sinking Sands will tell you. One cannot drink directly from the ocean, of course, and many of the oasis areas have agressive beings protecting them. Ewart would like to ensure that his people always have access to sufficient water, and would like your help crafting some dew collectors based on a prototype that he has come up with. If his promise of reward is to be believed, it will be worth your while to help out.

Note that this quest series is not available on TLE servers until those servers have unlocked the Echoes of Faydwer (EoF) expansion, due to the need for access to an EoF zone.

Ewart Nefird ("Water Finder") can be found near the resurrection tent near the Twin Tears carpet point at /way -524, -86, -1052

Shopping List

For this quest series you will need the following in addition to the items gathered on the first quest:

  • 3 severed sandalwood
  • 6 indium cluster
  • 6 stonehide pelt
  • 9 luminous sandpaper
  • 9 lambent filament
  • 9 lambent coal

Desiccated Desert

For this first quest, Ewart is simply sending you scrounging while he works on the dew collector prototype plans. Head to the Lesser Faydark, near the zone to Greater Faydark, to the blue dot on your map that is located at /loc -628, -51, 99 Gather 6 waxy leaves from the vine that you find there.

You will also need 12 succulent roots, which can be obtained from anywhere you would normally obtain level 50-59 roots.

Return to Ewart to complete the quest, and you will be granted coin, Far Seas Supply Division faction, a Far Seas Supply Division token, and tradeskill experience.

Wax On

Ewart needs some waterproof dew collector strands, and he is hoping that the coating from the waxy leaves that you collected in the first quest will work along with the succulent roots to make some proper strands. (Just in case a lot of time has passed between doing Desiccated Desert and Wax On, the quest will grant you 6 more waxy leaves.)

Scribe the "Water in the Desert" recipe book that dropped into your bags.

Summon or travel to a sewing table and craft 3 dew collector strands. In addition to the 6 waxy leaves and the 12 succulent roots from the first quest, you will need 9 lambent filament.

Return to Ewart to complete the quest, and you will be granted coin, Far Seas Supply Division faction, a Far Seas Supply Division token, and tradeskill experience.

Framing the Project

Next comes the creation of some dew collector frames that include a trough for the base. The dew collector strands will later be hung vertically on the frame so that the dew runs downwards into the trough. (What, you mean I wasn't supposed to research the actual process before writing the questline? :P)

You will need to create 3 dew collector frames at a woodworking table. You will also need a total of 3 severed sandalwood, 6 indium cluster, 6 stonehide pelt, and 9 luminous sandpaper.

Return to Ewart to complete the quest, and you will be granted coin, Far Seas Supply Division faction, a Far Seas Supply Division token, and tradeskill experience.

Do You Dew?

Now it is time to fabricate 3 dew collectors. You will find that Ewart slipped a crate into your inventory called "Dew Collector Components" that you will need to unpack to have the dew collector strands, dew collector frames and indium spigots that you need.

In order to craft the 3 dew collector kits you will also need a work bench and 9 luminous coal.

Return to Ewart to complete the quest, and you will be granted coin, Far Seas Supply Division faction, a Far Seas Supply Division token, and tradeskill experience.

Water In the Desert

What's with this man? Unlike almost every other quest-giver you have run into, he's asking you to deliver crated up items, but not even making you stay to unpack them and set them up? He's treating you like a skilled craftsperson instead of casual labor? Perish the thought! :)

That's right, it is time for a quick and simple set of deliveries: Croc Hunter Camp in Sinking Sands, /way -1336, -226, -577

  • Camp D'Sas in Sinking Sands, /way 14, -90, -910
  • Ortallian Encampment in Pillars of Flame, /way 66, -86, -766 (use the zoneline right behind Camp D'Sas, and you end up on the path leading directly to the encampment.)
  • Return to Ewart to complete the quest, and you will be granted coin, Far Seas Supply Division faction, a Far Seas Supply Division token, tradeskill experience, and the all-class recipe book for 9 "Fanciful Faucets".

Additionally, Ewart will now sell you level 50-59 advanced tradeskill recipe books.
