Can't tell your figwart from your mantrap? Uncertain what rares you should be scrounging for mastercrafted gear as you level up? Here's a down-and-dirty guide, just for mages! (Make sure to check out the Other Notes section at the bottom for some additional details!)

Crafters Needed
Your armor is crafted by tailors. Tailors will also make your cloak and hex dolls, sages will make your spells, jewelers will make your jewelry, woodworkers make wooden weapons, weaponsmiths make metal weapons. When you have a crafted weapon created, you will want to ask for the "blessed" imbue, which has a chance to proc a +spell damage/+healing proc.
Other Notes:
Tiers: I know folks can be confused by the tier-thing, so here's the breakdown:
- Tier 1: levels 1-9, mastercrafted gear will be level 2 to equip
- Tier 2: levels 10-19, mastercrafted gear will be level 12 to equip
- Tier 3: levels 20-29, mastercrafted gear will be level 22 to equip
- Tier 4: levels 30-39, mastercrafted gear will be level 32 to equip
- Tier 5: levels 40-49, mastercrafted gear will be level 42 to equip
- Tier 6: levels 50-59, mastercrafted gear will be level 52 to equip
- Tier 7: levels 60-69, mastercrafted gear will be level 62 to equip
- Tier 8: levels 70-79, mastercrafted gear will be level 72 to equip
- Tier 9: levels 80-89, mastercrafted gear will be level 82 to equip
- Tier 10: levels 90-92, mastercrafted gear will be level 91 or 92 to equip (varies by slot)
The only exception to the above are mastercrafted hex dolls, which are at the start of the tier (10, 20, etc.)
Dolls and Cloaks: Hex dolls begin in tier 2, cloaks become available in tier 3. Neither are yet available in T10, since we only have a partial tier, and the recipes are later in the tier.
Jewelry: In addition to rings, earrings, bracelets and the like, there are various other jeweler-made items from the rare root (scarves), rare hide (belt, tomes) and so on, but since there is a jewelry revamp in-progress, giving class-specific recommendations on these will have to wait.
Experts: At this time, there are six level 70 mage adepts that require tier 7 resources (acrylia) instead of tier 8 (tynnonium). These "marquee" spells were part of the EoF expansion, when the level cap was 70, and used the resources available at that time. Check with your local sage before obtaining the rares for these experts, just in case they are changed at some point:
- apocalypse
- archlich
- blazing avatar
- ice nova
- solar shower
- sonic boom
