March 18, 2019 - Two More Things!

First, the consolidated list of workarounds and things to avoid until the patch on Tuesday, if you are working on Mischief Managed.

  • If the final of the 10 traps will not let you place anything on it, you can work around the issue by grouping with someone else who is placing traps, so you can get credit for that last one.
  • Get all four "Forming the ___ Guild" quests together! Hand them in together as well! Failing to do so may bug Jurie until the patch on Tuesday.
  • Convince Hibbie to join you BEFORE you convince Jurie.
  • When you go to convince Eifae, introduce yourself, then close out that conversation. Hail her again, then do the proper path, and the quest will update. If she agrees to go with you, but the quest did not update, introduce yourself then try again.

Contrary to the comments from the forum trolls, who are trying to make this sound like some great Daybreak conspiracy, bugs happen, especially when code is touched after the testers are done with their part (or when players do things in a different way than the testers did, such as not grabbing the 4 convince quests in one fell swoop!) Unintended consequences happen, and Gninja has been putting in many long extra hours this weekend helping folks through it until the patch happens on Tuesday. Please, show some compassion and patience if you can.

Now, on to stuff I am trying not to whimper about. I know the devs have way too many balls in the air, so the ball was dropped on highlighting this information. I did not even find out about this achievement until today, so while I would like to apologize for the short notice, it is what it is at this point. :)

There is a house deed that you can earn from completing the Fabled Chronoportals (and PQ) instance, if you can get a group together for the fableds that can meet the resolve requirement. The achievement went in yesterday. Anything you did before the patch yesterday will NOT have counted, due to how achievements are worded, and the fact that it slid in under the wire means we were unable to warn folks about it before this weekend was over. So, if you want a Kerafyrm house that has TWO unique looks (Sleeper and Awakened), this is how you get it, and you will need to finish before the 31st, or wait another year for it.

March 16, 2019 - Bug Warning

Since we were unable to test the "convince" stage of the new crafting line (they did not want it spoiled for live), a few issues have cropped up. Please pass the word that these will be fixed on Tuesday.

Convince Hibbie BEFORE Jurie, or you will be stuck on Hibbie until Tuesday

Additionally, if one of the researchers agrees to join the Anchorage, but then doesn't head off, remember what conversational path you too and redo it again. This will also be fixed Tuesday

March 16, 2019 - GU109!

Barring any last-minute issues, the servers should be coming up soon with Game Update 109 for the live servers, as well as the two new servers. It is bound to be a bit of a crazed day, since it is the 20th Anniversary of EverQuest and so much is going on across all the Daybreak games because of it. Prep yourself for launch by checking out the GU109 Patch Notes. In addition to the new tradeskill quests and the public tradeskill apprentices, there are a couple other little things called out in the patch notes for crafters such as: mount gear patterns stacking to 10 and fitting in harvest depots, more house items stacking in inventory, and a couple furniture merchants with expanded inventory.

The GU109 Crafting stuff turned into four articles and three YouTube videos, so if I missed something, I heartily apologize and will fix it as soon as possible.

To save you some digging for the links:

March 16, 2019 - Bristlebane Day on Test

Yep, another event is rumbling around on Test right now! I'll flesh out the article next week, after I recover from the GU tomorrow and so on, but here is at least the eye-candy for you! Bristlebane Day 2019

March 15, 2019 - Prepping for Tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of EverQuest, and EQ2 has several things in store for the big day. First, of course, is the release of GU109 and the addition of serverwide research assistants (plus a lot of other stuff on the adventuring front). Expect the servers to be back up around 10 a.m. Pacific tomorrow.

In the meantime, members will enjoy double experience and status from now until the end of March 21. (It looks like only double guild status, not double personal status, FYI.)

Two more videos are up on my youtube channel for the GU109 content now:

I am tired. I am less coherent than usual, and grumpy to boot, so expect less coherence than usual for a bit. I WILL be on Test later today to test out the Bristlebane Day content that just hit there for testing, but may/may not have a preview done before the end of the day due to my brain leaking out my ears from too many events overlapping.

March 13, 2019 - Hurry Up and Wait

While I had hoped to have more screenshots, and an item preview video, done by now, I had been waiting on the final beta patch to retest stuff before the Saturday release, and, well, the patch was delayed, then the beta server sort of went kablooey. Hopefully, I will be able to dive back into retesting and then tackle more pics tomorrow. {fingers crossed}

Meanwhile, I have one bit of happy news for Saturday. Those many, many mount patterns that some of us have will stack to 10 in inventory and also fit in harvest depots after the big GU patch on Saturday. Wheee!

March 08, 2019 - Sunrise, Sunset ...

Tock discovered that one of the GU109 furniture items was even more special than we originally thought. While at first we thought the change from a blue-white light on the Beam of Light item to a sunlight sort of light was due to a beta patch changing it, it turns out that the light changes based on the current Norrathian time. We have the blue-white of moonlight, then greens, pinks and purples at sunrise, then full sunshine, then the greens, pinks and purples at sunset, then back to moonlight. See for yourself! (Note that this item is going to undergo a name change before it goes live, but I do not have the exact name information yet.)

March 03, 2019 - GU109 - A First Look

GU109 will go live on Saturday, March 16. Things are still being tweaked and updated, and will be right up until launch time, but I am able to get you some first glimpses of the crafting goodness involved. First comes the GU109 Mischief and Mayhem Quick Overview. Then comes the (still in-progress) Mischief Managed quest overview that also contains more details about the new public tradeskill assistants. Last, but most definitely not least comes what GU109 Furniture that we have seen so far (there will be more incoming as the beta progresses.) Enjoy! Once the beta server is back up (ETA Monday night, at the earliest), I will be working on adding more information.

February 28, 2019 - There is Mischief Afoot!

Some of you had heard me mumbling about trying to test three things at once: Chronoportals (which goes live in a few hours), Brewday (which goes live next week), and "something else". I can now tell you that the "something else" is the segment of this announcement regarding The Anchorage and the one regarding Public Tradeskill Apprentices. We are still testing away, and I cannot give you more information yet, but I will be able to once we are closer to the release of the new GU. In the meantime, please note the mention that you will need to be a level 110 crafter with the Scrivener line completed in order to help with the questline and the new apprentices.

Busy busy! Much mischief afoot!

February 28, 2019 - GU Downtime - Plan Ahead!

I wanted to nudge folks about this now, as many have missed the significance of the date. The PVP event server, the new TLE server and the GU will go live March 16. This is a Saturday folks, so plan your playtime accordingly! The 16th is a huge day for Daybreak, celebrating the 20th anniversary of EverQuest and a LOT of things are going to be going on for the Daybreak folks across their various games. But again, from the player side, this will be a Saturday patch, so warn your "weekend warrior" friends that the morning of the 16th may be downtime.

February 23, 2019 - Chronoportal Updates

The missing art for the "Golden Statue of Firiona Vie" and the "Kunark Rising" painting has been patched to Test, and is now contained in the Chronoportal article, along with some details about the resolve needed for the new level 110 fabled chronoportal instances. There is also a downloadable quest tracker available for the event.

February 22, 2019 - Brewday on Test

Brewday is now on Test. I'll flesh this more out after I can catch my breath, and will also flesh out the Chronoportals stuff a bit more. Sleep first.

Oh, right, you might want the link to the Brewday stuff, eh? Enjoy!

February 17, 2019 - Time Keeps on Ticking ...

... into the past!

Yes, I know that's not how the song goes, but the annual chronoportals event allows players to revist certain events/zones of EQ fame, so it fits ... kinda.

This annual event will be larger than ever this year as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the launch of the original EverQuest. It will also run for significantly longer, causing much event overlap. You can read more about the new, improved event here.

February 07, 2019 - Erollisi Day and a Quick Note

Erollisi Day is live on all servers. There are a couple corrections/additions in my writeup, the most major of which is that there is an alternate method (instead of fighting) to get rid of the attacking mobs. Yep, throw a flower at them! Poof! They can't stand the power of love, it seems!

Have you checked out the most recent Producer's Letter from Windstalker? There are several bits of news in there you might want to know.

January 26, 2019 - Erollisi Day on Test

We are now testing Erollisi Day content on the Test server, in preparation for it to go live on February 7. The article needs to be fleshed out a lot still, but you can see the eye-candy here.

January 02, 2019 - Frostfell Extended!

There will NOT be a server bounce tomorrow, so Frostfell is now slated to run until 7 a.m. Pacific on the 8th, when the servers go down for a patch. Please spread the word! (Frostfell is the one world event that requires server downtime due to some of the special zone art needed for it, etc.)

December 25, 2018 - Real Life Recipe :)

As I was sitting on Fallen Gate, preparing to listen to a guide tell us a tale of what snowpeople do for Frostfell foods, talk turned to fruitcakes. I mentioned wistfully the delicious fruitcake that my mother used to make when we were young (which made me NOT understand all the fruitcake jokes until I was in college and had a storebought ... brick). In memory of my mother, at the request of a player, I have unearthed from our family reunion cookbook, my mom's "Miracle Fruitcake" recipe. (Apologies to folks who use the metric system, this is a verbatim copy and paste.)

  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 cup seedless raisins
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 cups fruits and peels
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Combine in saucepan first six ingredients. Boil gently for 3 minutes. Cool in large mixing bowl. Add eggs, fruits & peels and nuts. Sift dry ingredients, and add gradually to fruit mixture, beating well after each addition. Pour into 9" tube pan, lined with greased wax paper. Bake in slow oven (275 degrees) for 2 1/2 hours or until tester inserted in center comes out clean. Remove cake from pan. Cool thoroughly. Wrap securely in foil. Age 3 to 4 weeks to improve flavor. Makes a 4-1/2 pound cake.

December 18, 2018 - Last-Minute Deals!

Whether you are looking for hot deals or cool steals, you may want to check out the Marketplace. Not only has the 12 Days of Frostfell been extended until the 28th of December, but some special homes have been added to the Marketplace as well! The "Limited Time Lewtz" section includes not only any of the collector's edition homes that you may have missed, but two special collector's packages AND the hotly-anticipated Baubleshire home in a special Holiday Bundle that also awards chocolate coins. Get them while they are there if these are deeds that you have been wanting for a while!

December 13, 2018 - Patch Tidbits

These items of tradeskill note were in the patch notes today:

  • Tradeskill Writs no longer need to be turned into the quest giver and will auto-complete after finishing the final combine.
  • Guild harvesters will now offer the daily Planes of Prophecy and Chaos Descending harvesting missions, even if their minions are out gathering early expansion harvests.

That first bit about the tradeskill writs is talking about work orders and rush orders. They all should now auto-complete and give you the reward at the end without you having to run back to the writ giver to hand it in.

The harvesting missions change is something that we have been asking for, as guild harvesters, well, get sent out to harvest. This lets us get our PoP and CD harvesting missions even when the harvesters are out earning their keep.
