Yes, the Tuesday patch made shadow harvesting more of a mess. Yes, the devs are aware of the issue. No, they have not provided any ETA as of this posting. No, ranting at me does nothing productive whatsoever.

Yes, I WILL be likely to do something rude to the next person who decides I need to be the target for their upset regarding shadow harvesting, expert spells, tradeskill itemization, etc., etc., especially after the sheer number of hours I put into testing and feedbacking for the last two months. I can only report bugs, I cannot make them be fixed. I can only ask for information on how something "should" work, I cannot make them give me the information, etc. So, people dumping on me when I'm already exhausted and burnt out just makes me more upset, and that level of stress is bad for my health. I will likely be laying low for a few days and mostly playing something standalone, because ... people.

I truly "get" how upset some people are, really, I do. I may even share it. But I was also brought up to have a LOT more common courtesy and basic human decency than I have been receiving, and I will not stoop to responding in kind. (And the number of people spewing at me is much, much smaller than what the whole dev team has been receiving.)

I will be back to updating pages, putting up new pages and all that ... stuff once I am less ready to bite someone.

December 29, 2019 - Holding Pattern-ish

It will still be over a week before we should expect the next patch to fix the number of issues we are seeing with recipes, itemization, etc. I do not even want to start on an article about shadow harvesting until we get more word on how it "should" work, as we have many unanswered questions about skillups, rare rates, etc. In the meantime, however, here are some rescued notes from the beta forums regarding the Overseer System and the new Persistent Mercenary Buffs (aka "Batallion Buffs").

December 17, 2019 - Luclin-Bound

Sometime within the next couple of hours the servers will be unlocked and floods of eager adventurers and crafters will be headed for the Blood of Luclin expansion. The first couple of days will be prone to seeing a lot of the beta information get updated with changes and corrections from the live servers. Please bear with me regarding updates to the BoL Crafting & Housing Information Clearinghouse. It is bound to be beyond crazed for several days as I scurry around to verify different things, juggle web page updates and handle a zillion and one questions that I've already answered. :D

December 13, 2019 - I (Happily) Stand Corrected

I cannot begin to explain how crazed things are right now, or how many balls I have in the air at one time, nor how many things the devs must be juggling as expansion launch day stampedes in our direction. Before I dive into the zillion and one things that need to go into the BoL Crafting and Housing Information Clearinghouse in the next couple of days (not to mention retesting a lot once this final beta patch hits), I wanted to say that I pulled the video tour for the Sanctus Seru Promenade. It had been taken several days ago, when zoning in to tour simply dumped you inside the house. Now the entire area, including the massive outdoor area, is available for touring on beta, and I have done a fresh Sanctus Seru Promenade Tour. Enjoy!

December 10, 2019 - Merry (Luclin) Frostfell!

While Frostfell has released on the live servers, I am still hard at work on all the stuff that goes along with the Blood of Luclin release next week. My "gift" to you folks is a huge, huge amount of eye-candy. Rather than go link-crazy trying to spoon-feed it to everyone (I am still beyond busy testing AND churning out information for you folks), I will point you to the Blood of Luclin Crafting & Housing Clearinghouse. The bottom of that page shows you all the things I have added recently, including a video tour of the Seru house, one huge furniture page, a second huge furniture page in progress, and so on. Enjoy!

December 09, 2019 - Frostfell Reminder

Just a reminder that Frostfell hits the live servers with the patch tomorrow morning. Are you ready to get into the festive spirit?

December 06, 2019 - Dragon Attack Monuments

Whoops! The monuments mistakenly thought they should also poof when the Dragon Attack! event ended. Either that, or we have a group of trollish monument thieves. They should not have gone away, they WILL be permanent parts of Antonica and Commonlands moving forward, but they will have issues for the next few days. (They can be manually added back in, but if a zone closes due to being empty for too long, they will poof.) They will be properly weighted down with the patch on Tuesday (December 10), so they cannot be dragged off again.

December 04, 2019 - Benosched!

... I mean, um, I have been working on the start of the Blood of Luclin Crafting and Housing Information Clearinghouse. There is not a lot there to begin with, but I will be adding to it in fits and starts over the next couple of weeks.

November 27, 2019 - Expansion Release Date

The Blood of Luclin expansion release date was formally announced today as December 17, 2019. The tradeskill line should be made available to all beta testers around the 5th (or at least, that was the last date I heard Kander mention on the forums). This means that you should also plan to finish the repeatable prelude quests in Kylong by the morning of the 17th.

Since Frostfell goes live on December 10, that means there may/may not be an issue with the ice brick cutout set for a week (in between when Frostfell goes live, and when the art patching will be done on the 17th). Kaitheel tried to juggle things around, but we are uncertain how well it will work out when the event goes live.

One last note! Remember that the Dragon Attack! event ends on December 5 and plan your dragon killing and monument crafting accordingly!

I cannot word. Here you are.

November 20, 2019 - The Passing of a Legend

We were truly sorry to hear of the death of Brad "Aradune" McQuaid, who was a vital part of EverQuest's history. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends, as well as past and present co-workers.

November 12, 2019 - A Quick Note

I am, understandably, up to my eyeballs in overlapping stuff right now, but I wanted to mention one thing that I learned over the weekend and also repeat something that I mentioned in the writeup.

With the Dragon Attack! event, if you are done with your faction grind, and crafting for the sake of monument progress, you are likely drowning in mount gear. You may make one of each of the three recipes for a single hand-in. You will only get a single reward, but you will give appropriate progress to the monument.

I know folks are getting disheartened with the (lack of) monument progress. As has been mentioned before, the progress was set to be intentionally slow at the start, and will speed up over time. The event is set to run for four weeks, and they did not want us to rush through in the first few days and risk a lot of people missing out on the event. Yep, I know, even with keeping that in mind, folks are disheartened, but I know they are watching the progress and will nudge things as needed during the weeks to come. (The event does not end until December 5.)

November 06, 2019 - Downtime and Event Reminders

The servers will go down at 7 a.m. Pacific (tomorrow) to fix the spawning (mobs and nodes) issue that folks are seeing.

Also, a quick reminder that Heroes' Festival and the 15th anniversary Dragon Attack! event start at midnight tonight!

October 27, 2019 - Insanely Busy

What you folks are getting to see is just the tip of the iceberg on the amount of work going on behind the scenes. What do you mean, you are not getting to see anything? Oh, right, I have to actually publish the links. First, more is available on the Heroes' Festival article, including the images for the buyable appearance gear, quest trackers from Casdoe and house item preview video links from Ocarinah.

But you, eager decorators and crafters, want more, right? How about the first look at the items from Dragon Attack!, the 15th anniversary event? NOT the details, since we are frantically testing that right now, but the eye candy. I will go back and add prices for them all later when I am not 2-boxing and playing relay on questions between devs (on a Sunday!) in Discord, and players on Test. :D Testing comes first, details for you folks second. :D

October 26, 2019 - Heroes Festival In Testing

The annual Heroes Festival is now on the Test server. This does NOT include the extra special 15th anniversary event that has been mentioned recently. That will be covered separately when Daybreak lets us see it. :D Meanwhile, without further ado (and with more to do on it once I get some sleep) here is some Heroes Festival Eye-Candy.

October 25, 2019 - A Little Birdie** Told Me ...

... that the Tradeskill Signature Quest that was released with the prelude event would be needed in order to obtain the Luclin crafting line when the Luclin expansion is released in December. (Remember, this quest was released with the limited-time prelude event but this and the adventure quest are permanent additions to the game.) Those of you with level 110 crafting alt-armies might want to think about setting time aside to cycle through them if they have not done this quest yet. (**Ok, ok, it was not a little birdie, it was a little gnome, and he cleared this information for public knowledge, so folks have time to prep.)

October 23, 2019 - Panda Problems

Issues with the Days of Summer (aka Panda Quests) flagging will be fixed with the patch this coming Tuesday. Until then, you may not be able to shop with alts, you may or may not be able to buy the week 9 stuff even on the one who finished the week 9 quest, etc. Hang on until Tuesday, and it should get sorted out.

October 22, 2019 - Days of Summer, Patch Time

The patch is running long today due to some network issues, there is no ETA at this time. Thankfully, the Test server got their patch yesterday, so I was able to verify Days of Summer locations for you for week 9. All weeks of this event are now unlocked and as in past years, the questgiver and the NPC will be around year-round, so folks can quest at their own pace.

October 19, 2019 - Forums

Our message boards are down until further notice (it may be hours, it likely will be days). Since we do not use the forums much at all these days (unlike the ones for EQ), it is not much of a hardship on the EQ2 side of things. I may just decide to kill the EQ2 ones gracefully once they are back up, and just keep the calendar feature going.

October 18, 2019 - Expansion Info and More

Windstalker has released a new letter announcing expansion and beta information, information on a new live server, mention of a special anniversary event, and the promise of more details soon. Read all about it here.
