Oceansfull 2020

The annual celebration of the bounty of Prexus, Oceansfull, will run on the live servers from the start of June 4, 2020 and run through the end of June 17, 2020 (Pacific timezone). This year the event includes 16 new items from the clam shells and 6 returning ones. In addition to two returning quests from past years, there will also be two new quests and the returning collection.

This small event is centered on eleven locations near the oceans of Norrath, where you will find celebrators and purple shinies. There will be giant clams to plunder for their pearls in the nearby waters, and those pearls will give you gifts from the sea. Four of these locations also have quest-givers.

Basic Details

For those new to the event, or who need a bit of a refresher, here is some background information on how the event works.

Ocean's Edge?

Yes, the announcement is a bit cryptic with regards to locations. Norrath (and beyond) includes a lot of ocean-front property. Only 11 of those zones are going to be used for the celebration, however. In each case you are looking for a small group of othmir, shooting off random fireworks. The locations are as follows:

  • Antonica - west of the Oracle Tower Station
  • Commonlands - dock area
  • Greater Faydark - the beach off the Nursery area
  • Great Divide - Fina's Retreat area, dive way down!
  • Eastern Wastes - Nipik's Haven area
  • Kylong Plains - docks area
  • Timorous Deep - across from the pirate beach (/way 2313, 0, 688). Shells can be found in the shallow water there and in the deeper water to the northwest.
  • Moors of Ykesha - beach sort of in the Shadowed Cleft/Tillage Patch general area (/way -1577, -1086, -263)
  • Obulus Frontier - one of the beach areas below Twark at /way 395, -242, -834
  • Tranquil Sea - near South Dshinn (/way -1100, 24, 495)
  • Phantom Sea - south of Wanderer's Dock (/way 1165, 15, 1361)

The shells will have the same rewards, no matter which zone you visit, so pick whichever zone works the best for you when trying to gobble up the bounty from the shells. You WILL however, need to visit at least 3 zones to get the shinies for the collection, and to visit 4 zones if you wish to do both the new and returning quests.

Wait - Diving?

Yep. Diving. If you don't have racial or class-based water-breathing, and don't have a Fishbone earring, you will want to invest in either otter totems (craftsman recipe), or make a rebreather (tinkerer recipe). You'll be underwater a lot if you want to get all the goodies from the giant clams.

Giant Clams?

Giant clams will be found at the bottom of the ocean in the general area of the othmir celebrators in each of the above locations. They cannot be tracked, but are rather large.

Click on the shell, and it will open up and contain a dark, pearl-like gift. (It will be named "____'s gift", with your name in the blank if you are the one who opened it.) Clicking on the gift will then result in one of 22 possible items. There is a 10-second-ish delay (guesstimate, not timed) after clicking on one shell before you can click on another.

Please note that one item on the list was corrected (transcription error) and one item was added to the above returning items list since the original publication of this article.

New Quests

There are two new quests this year, one of which involves a small bit of crafting. You will need to at least be a level 2 artisan to do the combine, which is a simple hail of a crafting trainer in a city for those who have never crafted before. DO NOT MASS PRODUCE at this time (it is being looked into). While you technically can make 5 at once, you only get updated for a single at a time.

"Oceansfull of Good Food" is offered by Hana near /way -1101, 24, 495 in the South Dshinn region of the Tranquil Sea. Reward is three Karkata Trap.

"To Shell and Back" is offered by Kisu near /way -1224, -540, 3368 at Nipik's Haven in the Eastern Wastes. You will need 30 basic coal and a workbench to perform the combines. There is a special workbench, pictured above, at /way -1139, -533, 3388. Reward is "Oceansfull: Bag of Shells" which unpacks to 2 each of: Aqua Sand Urchin Shell, Orange Sand Urchin Shell and Pink Sand Urchin Shell.

Returning Quests

There are two quests returning from last year, both of which involve very minor at-level mob killing.

"Shell or High Water: is offered by Binn on the Commonlands dock. It will award you three Gold Conch Shell. You will randomly end up being attacked by an at-level mob when collecting the gold conch shells, but not with every update.

"Beach Party Brawl" is offered by Kippy on the beach next to the Nursery in Greater Faydark. You will need to kill at-level ulthork for the quest. Reward is your choice of ONE of the following three items: Behemoth Clam Shell, Behemoth Clam Shell Broken, and Behemoth Clam Shell Large.

Hidden Achievement

There is one hidden achievement, complete with a prefix title, for opening 25 of the shells.

Collection

There is a nine-piece collection for an appearance cloak. Each zone has three pieces of the collection, so you will want to visit at least three zones to complete it. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Kedge Fossil, Kelpmaiden Scale, Broken Crown of Coral: Great Divide, Commonlands, Moors of Ykesha, Phantom Sea
  • Iron Pendant of Prexus, Rusted Sword Guard, Corroded Ancient Coin: Eastern Wastes, Kylong Plains, Antonica, Tranquil Sea
  • Tentacle Triden Icon, Cracked Wine Amphora, Abalone Carved Rune: Greater Faydark, Timorous Deep, Obulus Frontier.

The reward is Saltscale Cloak:

Quest Tracker?

Casdoe of Maj'Dul updated her spreadsheet again this year, to add the two new quests to it. Thanks again! The Oceansfull tracker is in XLS form and there is also a PDF version..

Video?

Ocarinah put together a short item preview video for us. Note that the max sizing on the "Orange Coral Frond" WILL be increased from what is seen in this video, but the change is not yet on Test. Thanks again, ma'am!
