Details are still being worked out for this world event, which was released quietly with GU56. (The event should run until GU57). This article will be updated periodically with more information.
With several of the gods, including Growth, once again making their presence known throughout Norrath, the druids have decided to try to restore Growth's influence over several damaged/defiled druid rings. While there are several similarities between this and the spire-building event from the fall of 2009, there are also several differences, so it is recommended that you keep an eye on this article, to be sure that you don't miss anything important.
The basic premise is that you will be assisting in tasks to restore the druid rings, and as the rings are restored, they will be added to the druid ring network. Questgivers (3) at the ring will offer crafting (level 2 Artisan to scribe, level 10 combines), harvesting (mining skill of 1) and combat (scales to level) quests in return for aa/xp and special new tokens (a floret of growth). However, they've apparently learned a thing or three from watching the Ulteran spires being restored, and have fine-tuned their efforts a bit.
Here are some of the details:
- Since the existing active druid rings will be linked for travel between them with the release of GU56, this event will only involve druid rings that are currently in the lands but not working
- Only one ring will be rebuilt at a time, with the completion of one opening up the next one for work
- When all of the rings are completed on a server, then repeatable quests will unlock at each of the new rings, allowing folks who want to, to continue to earn tokens at the location of their choice (the epic Defender of Growth NPC will offer the repeatable quests at the newly-completed rings)
- Completion amounts for each server can be set and adjusted on the fly, so that amounts can be adjusted as needed (good for less active servers)
- Merchants at each ring will have slightly different offerings (for example, there will be more than one version of the druid ring house item, apparently)
- While the quests can be completed solo, there will be extra quest updates for groups while performing the harvesting and adventuring quests, letting them progress more quickly as a team
- The vendors, and the repeatable quests that are unlocked at event completion, will stick around until GU57, which should allow for plenty of time for folks to get in their questing/shopping, even after the rings are completed
Vendor Offerings
Each location will have slightly different offerings, though we expect that things like the Imperceptible Beauty set, appearance weapons, charms (change the tint of your torch light) and the teleport pads may end up in all locations. Below are some of the brand new items that we've seen so far on the Nektulos Forest vendor:
Jewel of Balance 7 tokens
 |
a blessed sapling 50 tokens
 |
a blessed shrubbery 16 tokens
 |
Female Topiaric Mannequin 20 tokens
 |
Male Topiaric Mannequin 20 tokens
 |
Nektulos Forest a black granite druid ring 16 tokens
 |
Enchanted Lands a white granite druid ring 16 tokens
 |
Zek a sandstone druid ring 16 tokens
 |
Feerrott a verdant druid ring 16 tokens
 |
Loping Plains a grey granite druid ring 16 tokens
 |
Stonebrunt Mountains a dark verdant druid ring 16 tokens
 |
The sapling can be harvested (once per real-world day) to receive a berry reward. (There are three versions of the berry, and, so far, it seems random which one you will get each time):
Crafters - What to Bring
For the crafting quest, you will need tier 2 common resources (turquoise, electrum, iron, tubers, maple, tanned pelts, salty loam). There is an NPC at the site who will sell you the quest primary ingredient as well as tier 2 fuels, and there is also a banker there. (Saving you a lot of running back and forth, as you can shared bank mule extra resources.)
I am sure we will get plenty more details as the event settles into place, and as we learn what other druid rings and rewards are to be available, but those that are impatient can follow the thread on the SOE forums for further information.
Where To Start
The first ring to be rebuilt will be located in the far northwest corner of Nektulos Forest (-14, 90, -1998). When that ring is completed on a server, there will be an option to port from that ring to the next ring in the location.
And Where Next?
- When Nek is done on your server, it will be linked into the druid ring network, and the guard will send you to the next location in Enchanted Lands (it will be on the fae isle near the wizzie spires). The vendor offerings at the Enchanted Lands will be similar to the Nektulos Forest ones, except that the rings there will be white granite instead of black granite.
- After Enchanted Lands comes Zek, the Orcish Wastes and the grove of stones there. The buyable druid ring from there is sandstone.
- Then comes the Feerrott (take the new mount system there until you get to the tae ew station), and a buyable verdant druid ring.
- Fifth in the lineup is the Sinking Sands, down the beach from the spectre tower. (There is no new druid ring house item sold there)
- Next comes the Loping Plains druid rings, and a vendor-sold grey granite druid ring replica
- Then comes one out in the Skyfire Mountains, near the Skyfire sokokar post in the Jarsath Wastes. (There is no new druid ring house item sold there)
- After that, you move on to the Stonebrunt Mountains, near the Deepwater Pavillion, where a "dark verdant druid ring" is the unique buyable
Once that is all done, the quest NPCs at the Stonebrunt ring stick around, and at the other 7 newly-finished rings, the Defender of Growth NPC will offer the repeatable quests for further floret-earning.
But Wait, There's More!
The event was recently patched, so that if your server has completed all of the rings, a new quartet of quest NPCs appear around the Stonebrunt rings. After you have completed 10 reconstruction tasks, the fae Kurista will offer you a quest for a shiny new title, Scion of Growth!
