November 09, 2005 - Happy Birthday EQII and LU 16

Today is a huge day for EQ - birthday rewards, new SOGA models, and a boatload of fixes and changes in Live Update 16. I'll work on linking in a copy of the massive patch notes as soon as I can get them formatted to display properly, since it looks like the SOE site doesn't even have them up yet.

Edit: It took a lot of hand-formatting, and still isn't pretty, but you can find the ginormous patch notes here.

November 09, 2005 - Viltality potions and other issues

There are currently some issues with the birthday rewards - hotfixes are being planned. I found the following from Blackguard:

There is currently an issue that is calculating the amount of vitality you should be getting incorrectly when you log in. This will be fixed tomorrow, and all characters will receive full Adventure and Tradeskill Vitality at that time. We recommend that you do not use a vitality potion at this time unless you are able to use up all of the vitality it grants you before tomorrow morning.
In another spot, it was mentioned that although your /claim may only list a potion for a reward when the posted list mentions several rewards for that tier, it actually will give you all the items from that tier when you claim the item. An upcoming hotfix (no ETA) will modify the tooltip to include the entire list.

Don't forget that there's still a few more days of voting left for EQ's nomination for the Walk of Game Have you voted today?

October 22, 2005 - Today\'s Hotfix

*** Tradeskills ***

  • It now takes less tradeskill XP to gain levels as an artisan.
  • The bonus previously given to tradeskill XP has been converted into these shorter tradeskill levels.
  • You may notice that you are logging in with more tradeskill experience than you had when you last logged out.
  • If you have feedback on the somewhat faster pace of tradeskill advancement, please feel free to comment on the General Tradeskill Discussion board: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board?board.id=general_tradeskill

October 07, 2005 - Update for food/drink

This m*rning's hotfix included the following:

  • Crafted level 50+ food and drinks should now have variable durations based upon the stage of the product as well as how many combines go into the recipes. They should be comparable to the duration times of crafted food/drink at other levels.
  • Crafted food should no longer stack multiple types of beneficial effects.

October 06, 2005 - Surprise in the Hotfix

I suspect you can figure out which one of these two items from the hotfix notes had me rubbing my eyes and reading it twice. {grins}

  • We have permanently increased tradeskill experience gain at all levels by 50%.
  • Level 50+ imbued shields now have the appropriate effects.

October 05, 2005 - Forums Down

It seems the server that houses not only our EQ and EQ2 forums, but also the main www.racknine.com site is a bit ill. Because of that, we not only can't access the forums, but we can't put in a trouble ticket on it because the site hosting the ticketing system is down. Blame it on the greml- ... Gigglegibber Goblins!

October 05, 2005 - Live Update Tradeskill Notes

This live update has a lot of information in it, and I recommend that you read it from start to finish. (Once I figure out what's awry with our forums, I'll replace this comment with a link to the full patch notes.) For the impatient types, however, here's the notes of tradeskill interest:

  • The needlessly confusing “Are you an artisan or an adventurer?” question has been removed from the Qeynos/Freeport introductory quests. Thanks to the community summit attendees for pointing this out!
  • Imbue recipes now exist for level 50+ Armorers, Tailors, Weaponsmiths, Jewelers, and Woodworkers.
  • Warring Conviction, Purifying Flames, Wintry Cold, Bolt of Storms, Arctic Flames, and Fuliginous Tendrils are now found in the level 51 recipe books.
  • Noxious Bolt is now a level 29 recipe instead of 30.
  • Discretionary Flow is now a level 27 recipe instead of 30.
  • Nullification is now a level 24 recipe instead of 30.
  • Miasma is now a level 25 recipe instead of level 28.
  • Dark Emanations is now a level 31 recipe instead of 33.
  • The Summoner's Mark line of spells for Summoners, Conjurers, and Necromancers are now included in the correct recipe scrolls for level 28/42/56 Sages.
  • Fear should now be included in the level 24 sage recipe scrolls.
  • Aqueous Stalkers should now be included in the level 24 Sage recipe scrolls.
  • Poisonous Veil should now be included in the level 20 Sage recipe scrolls.
  • All Apprentice II, III, IV and Adept III spell scroll icons are now visually consistent for each archetype.
  • Broadcloth Yarn and Broadcloth Thread have been removed from Tailor Essentials Volume 30, since they already exist in Volume 29.
  • Roasted Rolled Oats and Rolled Oat Malt have been removed from Provisioner Essentials Volume 30, since they already exist in Volume 29.
  • Rock Blast is now in Volume 15 of the Advanced and Essentials Scholar recipe books.
  • Summoner's Mark is now Volume 15 of Advanced and Essentials Scholar recipe books.
  • Consumable pasta has been removed from tradeskill merchants.
  • The Spellbinder's Sconce should no longer show appear as a pink box.

October 03, 2005 - Community Leader Summit News

SOE invited a few community leaders this past weekend to meet with them regarding EQ and EQII. While tradeskills understandably weren't the central focus of the summit, they did get some discussion time, both in panels and in side-conversations with various devs, etc. You can read my brief summit notes here.

September 24, 2005 - Bonus tradeskill xp

Apologies for not putting this up sooner. Bonus tradeskill xp (for all levels, not just below 50) has been left on until Monday morning, due to some issues with it not behaving for everyone the first time around.

September 22, 2005 - More Small Fixes

From today's patch message:

  • Selecting "Artisan" in the Broker window will now show results usable by all tradeskill classes. For example, to get a listing of all advanced tradeskill recipe books, choose "Artisan" from the dropdown.
For those confuzzled by this little bit, it sounds like this is the fix so that advanced recipe books can be searched for once again on the broker. I'll update our list of known bugs with a note about this fix, but not remove it from the list until we've got confirmation that it's working.

September 22, 2005 - Small Reminder

Bonus tradeskill xp is turned on in-game until this Friday morning's update. Get your crafting in while you can!

September 21, 2005 - Patch Info ... and a Request

Today's update contains some post-expansion fixes and tweaks for tradeskillers:

  • Precious metals and gemstones will now be harvested more often. - Stonehide and Scaled fistwraps should now produce an product at the pristine state.
  • - Stonehide and Scaled spiked Cesti should now produce a product at the pristine state.
  • - Indium and Cobalt Morning Stars should now produce a product at the pristine state.
  • - Cobalt Executioner's Axes should now produce a product at the pristine state.
  • - Scaled Leather Cestii will now produce an item when gaining the pristine form of the recipe.

In the week since the expansion, we've had several database submissions for the new level 50+ furniture. Some of it looks really great! Sadly, however, the non-carpenter classes are totally silent with regards to data submissions. If you're a level 50+ crafter, please consider taking some time out from your headlong rush to level 60, and submit recipe and item data to our DoF Data forum. We'd really like to get the database updated with the new information, but we can't without your help! Additionally, we need information on the various crafted spells and abilities that were added or changed with the expansion.

Thanks!

September 20, 2005 - Small Fix

From the patch message today:

  • Favor of Innovation should now award level 50 components when performing level 50+ tradeskills.

Created By: Niami Denmother

September 15, 2005 - Path Odds and Ends

From today's patch message:

  • The Spellbinder's Sconce should once again appear within homes.
  • Breath of the Tyrant can now be found in level 24 Sage recipe books.
  • Spiked Earth will no longer appear twice in the level 20 Sage recipe books.
  • Tradeskilled food will no longer stack its stat bonus with itself.
Also, yesterday, the level 50+ advanced provisioner and advanced carpenter books were removed from the drop tables. I suspect that the advanced provisioner ones shouldn't have been created in the first place, and the advanced carpenter recipes aren't ready for release.

September 13, 2005 - Desert of Flames and Live Update 13

Wheeee! It will almost be like being in a whole new world out there! Today marks the release of the much-anticipated Desert of Flames expansion and the combat and spell changes that have been the topic of much discussion over on the SOE forums. There is a lot to absord all in one fell swoop, so make sure to go over the patch message carefully before wandering into the game and getting overwhelmed. For those of you at w*rk who can't read the SOE forums, I've reprinted the patch message here in our forums for you.

This is going to be a VERY busy time for the EQTC/EQ2TC folks, so please be patient with us, and help out where you can. Both EQ and EQ2 released expansions on the same day, and both sites are going to be a bit busier than normal. As with our EQTC site, we've set up a data-only forum that should be used to only report in information from the new expansion that needs to go onto the site (new recipes & harvests, new tradeskill item stats, and suchforth). Your help in keeping this forum chatter- and clutter-free is greatly appreciated and will speed up getting information onto the site in a timely manner. (I don't expect things to be anywhere near as zooey here as it will be on the EQTC site, but am bracing for impact just in case. :D)

September 04, 2005 - Desert of Flames - New Furniture!

Now that the NDA has been lifted for the Desert of Flames expansion, you'll find various conversations hither and yon regarding all the lovely new features. One of the items of interest to us, of course, is player-made furniture, and eqnews.us has pictures of the upcoming offerings for us here.
