This is part of the Reign of Shadows Crafting and Housing Preview, written during the beta phase. As with all things beta, things may change before the expansion goes live. The RoS expansion will be released on December 15, 2020.
This final quest in the TS signature line picks up where The Ennoblement of Penitence dumped you -- in the very lovely but frightening Vex Thal, surrounded by nasty-looking monsters. You seem to be rooted in place, so your only choice is to use the Nuniun's Signaling Horn that you crafted in the last quest.
It ... doesn't work so well and you are summoned to the feet (tail?) of Xerkizh the Creator. Wait until you get a message onscreen about the Creator being distracted and try blowing the horn again. Nuniun and his team show up and distract the Creator so you can exit the room and return to the entry area. Click on the big blue exit crystal and return to Nuniun's camp. (You will also find that you are now able to fly in Shadeweaver's Thicket.)
Nuniun feels that the sensor and the portal should be destroyed before someone else gets pulled into that nasty area, and sends you out to harvest for ingredients for explosives. The recipe Nuniun's Special-Made Explosives is dropped into your recipe book and you are given a list of items to harvest within Shadeweaver's Thicket.
- 120 humming azurite
- 120 slow creeping roots
- 120 luclizite clusters
- 120 zelniak pelts
Once you have harvested all of those items (again, harvest them within the Shadeweaver's Thicket zone), head to the crafting table and CAREFULLY combine the ingredients to make the explosives. Each combine will require 5 coruscating coal, and it will take 4 dangerous combines to make the 2 dozen total explosives that are needed. (First it asks you to make 12, then when done, it will ask you to make 12 more just to be on the safe side.
These combines will kill you if you miss an event counter, so be very careful. If you miss a counter and notice it in time, you may quickly cancel. You will lose a bunch of resources, but you'll still be alive. :D
I will admit to dying due to laughter as I read the names of the events as they happened.
Finish the 4 combines, head back down the stone path to the sensor, and click on it to place the explosives. Then fly back up to Nuniun, who is now standing at the top of the path, and hail him to start the fireworks.
That big was strangely satisfying! (Unlike Nuniun, I don't think I might have been a gnome in a former life -- I'm just a redhead! :D)
You decide that it is time to return to Hulda and update her on the recent events. Nuniun suggests that you come back afterwards so he can protect you while you are out exploring. Head back to the Bazaar and check in with Hulda.
She is glad to see you back, all shivery about your incident with Vex Thal, and is ready to reward you for your hard work.
You receive a Sacred Manta house item, the autoconsumed mercenary contract for Nuniun Wolfbane, 155 plat or so, the achievement "The Long Dark", guild status from the achievement, and you unlock the ability to complete research requisitions from the 4 researchers. But wait, there's more! The achievement is a Prestige Achievement, which is a new mechanic this time around. You will receive a Guild Advancement Token, which gives you a huge chunk of guild status for your guild. This heirloom token drops into your currency tab which will boost your version of the guild buff for each of the currency you have on that character, up to five ... if you have a guild that is over level 300.
