Niami on the Test server is me. As of today, there is no Niami on any live server that is me. Please do not pester anyone else that you see with that name on the live servers, as they are not me.

November 04, 2021 - Heroes Festival Plus an Oops

I am sorry we were unavailable without warning for the last 24 hours (and for some of you it may be longer). Ngreth was changing who handles our DNS entries, and things like that take time to crawl through the internet, updating as they go.

Meanwhile, thanks to the fabulous Ocarinah, even though I have been buried in w*rk, there is a Heroes' Festival 2021 article ready for you. This event will go live this Friday, November 5.

November 02, 2021 - Wings Over Norrath

I have been beyond swamped, so I have not started on my usual expansion preview article at all yet. This was a very rushed and low-quality screenshot, but the above is a view of the crafter-only mount that will be earned at the end of the Visions of Vetrovia tradeskill signature line. It was added to beta today.

In other news, I have put together an Extra Life update page for those who want to follow my progress on Saturday. I "should" be posting some expansion video footage on there during the day Saturday as well.

October 29, 2021 - Playing it Forward

The next expansion beta is now in full swing. Nights of the Dead is underway. Heroes' Festival is on the Test server (more on that this weekend). Daylight Savings time is less than two weeks away for most Americans. What does all that mean? It means it is almost time for me to "Play it Forward" with Extra Life along with the rest of Team Darkpaw.

What is Extra Life, and why am I, who tries very hard to not ask for help, pinging the community about it? It is a nonprofit charity where gamers raise money to help sick kids and the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Being hospitalized for something major is scary. As I learned first-hand last year, being hospitalized for something major during a global pandemic is utterly terrifying. I cannot imagine how much worse it is for sick kids when they are cut off from their family, unable to have them visit, unable to have the comfort of a simple hug, and so on. It is bad enough during normal times, and these times are definitely not normal.

On November 6, 2021 I will join gamers from around the world in raising money for the Children's Miracle Network to benefit sick kids. The team I have joined, Team Darkpaw, features both staff and players of EQ and EQ2 and is raising money for the phenomenal Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego.

Please consider donating if you can. (And if it is a choice between donating to the site and donating to Extra Life, please donate to Extra Life. Also know that I have already donated some of the money from recent site donations to the cause, and will likely donate more of it soon.) If you are already participating, or donating through a friend, thank you. If money is too tight and you want to do something to help, perhaps you can consider sharing a post on your social medial account highlighting this gamer-driven charity. ...worked for several hours on something, published it, and had that nagging feeling that you have forgotten something, but you cannot figure out what it is? Yep, it is that kind of weekend. However, I am throwing it up for folks to view while I try to figure out what, if anything, was missed. The Nights of the Dead 2021 preview is now up!

September 28, 2021 - Update on the Site Outage

The issue was finally resolved. It seems that someone was trying to grab all the data (steal our content) from the sites and caused us to keep crashing the caching, which was then crashing the server that we are on. Grrr. Arg ... and all that jazz. In theory, we should be stable now, at least.

Other quick notes: there is a patch tomorrow (Tuesday), and the next Panda, Panda, Panda! quest should be released at 12:01 a.m. Pacific.

September 21, 2021 - Pandamonium!

While we are still awaiting details on the Gear Up, Level Up (GULU) event, the Panda, Panda, Panda! event has kicked off. (Formerly known as the Days of Summer).

Can you imagine living in a land where there are no true seasons? Where the weather stays bland and unchanging throughout the year? The hua'mein of Ultera can not only imagine it, but it is all that they know. Small wonder, then, that Mei Lan is curious about Norrathian seasonal events. Can you help provide her with a few examples? Week 1 locations taken from Discord have been added to the Panda, Panda, Panda! article, and eye candy will follow after I am done work today.

September 13, 2021 - Prelude Event Incoming!

The "Beyond the Shattered Sea" prelude event will begin on Tuesday, September 14, and should be active until the next expansion hits (date is still TBA). The Prelude Event Article has been updated with details regarding the adventuring quests, the crafting quests, the collection quest rewards, and the prices on the new buyable items. This should make it easier for you to hit the ground running when the event begins.

With regard to the ethereal event, for those of us (like me) who are feeling a bit behind on earning ethereal coins, Kander posted the following in Discord this afternoon:

For those who have been asking about double Ethereals. There are no plans for double ethereal coins. We plan to keep the ethereal event running indefinitely, as there will be rewards that people will want and or need even during and after the expansion this year and next. You will be able to earn the current Ethereal Event coins in expansion 18 content as well. So you will not have to go back to Reign of Shadows content to earn them.

August 31, 2021 - Prelude Event on Test

The Prelude 2021 event: Beyond the Shattered Sea, is now on the Test server. The eye-candy is up, the rest of the details will be up in the next couple of days as I squeeze research and documentation in during the evenings after work. This event will go live on September 14.

August 10, 2021 - GU118: Toil and Trouble

Game Update (GU) 118 goes live Tuesday morning at around 9 a.m. Pacific. You can read the official patch notes here. I have also put together a listing of the notes that will be of most interest to crafters and decorators, and will be updating the list with details and pictures once everything is on the live servers and is figured out.

July 27, 2021 - Missing, But Not Really Missing

The patch today introduced an issue with some art assets. A lot of decorators are reporting "missing" house items (Velious crafting station, portals, waterfalls, and more). Please be aware that the items themselves are still there, you have not lost them due to the patch today. They are, however, not displaying. The coders are aware of the issue and are actively investigating. Please spread the word and do not panic if decorated homes, halls, etc. are looking a bit off after the patch today.
