GU45 brought us many lovely changes and additions to the game. It also brought us thousands of weapon variations and recipes, when you add up all the handcrafted and mastercrafted, imbued, blessed, and base versions. While we slowly get all of the items and recipes into the database (and yes, weaponsmiths and woodworkers, we could use item and recipe screenshots for almost every tier right now), I have made an updated version of the weapon chart, removing all the frufru, and adding in weapon delays. Hopefully it will help those that are trying to sort out exactly which weapon they want crafted.

From today's hotfix, the items of tradeskill note:
* The woodworker recipe for rosewood cudgel has been removed from weaponsmith essentials volume 62, where it had been accidentally duplicated.
* The maple quarter staff is no longer present in outfitter essentials 16, only craftsman essentials 16.
* The ironwood cudgel recipe in advanced woodworker volume 52 has been corrected.
* The woodworker and weaponsmith tradeskill epic quests should once again update as expected.
* The imbued stone hide leather bandolier recipe is once again available. The sandalwood cudgel recipe is now making the correct item.
* An obsolete adamantine kukri recipe has been removed from weaponsmith essentials volume 60.
* Imbued and blessed ferrite claws now use the correct primary component.

Domino posted the following in the SOE forums. (As a bit of Mum addendum, I'd hazard a guess that the first hotfix will be tomorrow, but time will tell!):
GU45 is upon us, and once again there have been a fair number of changes for tradeskills, in particular this month the crafted weapons.
For those who haven't been following along, EQ2Traders has a great overview as always.
(Go us! :D)
Due to the very large volume of changes that went in with this update, we have noticed a couple of minor bugs that slipped through, and while they've already been corrected, they weren't corrected in time to push in with the game update, so will be added with an upcoming hotfix.
So be aware the following changes will be coming up very soon:
* a woodworker recipe for a rosewood cudgel had accidentally sneaked into weaponsmith essentials volume 62 (it is also in woodworker essentials 62, where it belongs). This will be removed. (Feel free to try making it if you wish, weaponsmiths, but it does use fletching so will be rather painful.)
* another woodworker recipe for maple quarter staff had sneaked into outfitter essentials 16, it will be removed and will remain only in craftsman essentials 16 where it belongs.
* imbued augmented satchels/bandoliers/etc were accidentally removed from the advanced tailor books in the 40-44 level range, these will hopefully be back before anyone misses them
* the war mace was intended to have str/sta/int instead of str/sta/wis and this will be corrected asap. The war maul delay will also be adjusted (faster) so it's different from the spiked hammer.
In the mean time, thanks to everyone who tested out the weapons on Test server and provided suggestions and feedback on the forums, and enjoy the game update! :D
I'd like to add my thanks, as well, to all those who helped poke and prod at these! ~Mum)

The U.S. servers are just finishing patching Game Update 45 as I write this. There's a huge amount to this patch, so if you haven't already checked out the patch notes while it was on the Test server, now is a really good time to do so. The final version of the patch notes can be found here. For those that missed it last week, the tradeskill highlights from this update can be found here. At this point, I'm not sure if I am more excited about more bank space, weaponsmith love, or new quested dishes for Mum, but regardless, I'm a happy halfling today!

Word has reached us that Game Update 45 will be released to U.S. servers in the morning. (Tuesday, May 13). Are you ready for all the lovely changes coming your way?

Since we know GU45 will be hitting "sometime this week", some extra prep work has been done on the site. All the crafted weapons have had their items and recipes hidden away as obsolete, and blank placeholder items have been added for all the new weapons that will be arriving with GU45. This should make it slightly easier for us to hit the ground running once the update arrives. We'll still need to fill in actual item stats, as well as enter the new recipes, but we won't be tripping over the old stuff while we're working on the new stuff.
Continuing with the theme of GU45 prep, here are a few things for folks to think of in advance. Do you have your extra strongboxes for the increased bank storage ready? Weaponsmiths, have you grabbed some common gems for the tier(s) that you are working in? Woodworkers, have you grabbed some common soft metal for your current tier(s)? Do you have enough of the right tier(s) of imbue gunk on hand for all the fresh pristine xp you want to earn? Broker prices on these things are likely to be all over the place on the day of the update, so planning ahead might save you some expense and frustration.
I haven't heard any formal word on exactly when this week the update will hit, but when/if anything is announced in advance of the update hitting, I'll keep folks posted.
P.S. Many thanks to those who have been voting for us in the Top 10 Fan Sites poll over at EQ2-Guild. All I can say is ... wow! I am simply floored by the results so far.

How does this site stack up in your list of favorite fansites? Does the home of the RPoD-wielding redhead stack up against some pretty stiff competition? Who knows, but it can be fun finding out! Check out the details over at EQ2-Guild, where they're doing a Top 10 Fan Sites poll and vote for your favorites! (1 vote per person per day) |

Mum seems to be literally beside herself over these new weapons, especially after doing the math on how many new items and recipes this will all come out to once you add in handcrafted/mastercrafted for every tier, and 2 imbues per each of those for tiers 2-8.
I bet some of you who don't have the time/energy/appropriate classes and suchlike to take a look at these for yourself on Test want a closer look at them, don't you? (Please, at least some of you nod and smile and agree, so that Kaisha and I feel better about how much time went into this thing, k? ;D) Without further ado, or late-night ramblings, here's the GU45 Crafted Weapon Preview, including weapon names/types/classes, damage ratings, ingredients needed and, of course, pictures of them all!

As mentioned on Wednesday, GU45 is now in available for the testing phase on the Test and TestCopy servers. While I'd originally planned on not publishing a preview until Monday, I decided to give everyone some weekend reading instead.
Without further ado, here is the GU45 Crafting Preview.

Home decorators had long desired dishes to place on all their lovely tables. Eventually, along came Duggin on the Thundering Steppes docks, to reward you with his used dishes in return for some food harvests. Even as they sang his praises (with many an ode to Domino and the Art Department thrown in), decorators sang a new descant begging for silverware and place settings. Dance with delerium, GU45 will bring you:
A Well-Set Table**
**Some assembly required
While the entire GU45 Crafting Preview is nowhere near ready for public consumption, Kaisha and I thought folks would like to drool over new dishes with us in the updated Feeding Duggin quest guide

Test has been patched today with a ginormous update. Trust me, you will want to read the patch notes on this one, and let the bank changes sink in, especially if you're a crafting alt-aholic. {grin} There are also the expected weaponsmith/woodworker weapon changes, shuriken crafted at lower levels, and much more! I will be working on a preview as soon as I start poking at things on Test, but don't expect a finished product on a preview until Monday or so.

Since not everyone knows to check out the carnivorous plant guide when they want a handy list of what the burynai digger pet can be fed, I threw up a quick Burynai Pet Feeding Guide.

The testing phase of GU45, with the major changes to crafted weapons, should be right around the corner. If you are a weaponsmith, a woodworker, or simply concerned about the changes, this is your chance to have a positive impact. Have you: a) done the /testcopy command on the character you could test with? b) set up a Test server version of the client and patched it recently? For those of you who are going to be actively testing, make sure that you're ready to use /bug over there only the outright bugs, not your personal feelings on the changes. /feedback should be used for constructive comments and feedback.

Taken from this post in the SOE forums:

The date and location for the 2008 Fan Faire have been announced. Mark your calendars for August 14-17 at the Las Vegas Hilton. Those of you wishing to get rooms on-site should do so immediately, as they tend to sell out quickly, (Of course, there are plenty of other lodgings in the area, but the reserved block of rooms at the Hilton is likely to go quickly.) We hope to see some of you there!

From today's hotfix:
The duration of the buff on harvesting tools has been increased to ten days.
The Harvesting Tools Quick Reference guide will be updated accordingly.
Created By: Niami Denmother
First, for those who missed the note in the forums, there is now a Crafting Tools Quick Reference on the site that should make finding the right tinkered crafting tools a bit more easy.
Secondly, the hotfix this morning made some fixes to the new T6 armor imbues that were added with GU44:
The names of the recipes for imbued cobalt brigandine leggings and imbued cobalt plate greaves have been corrected. Imbued cobalt reverent coat now correctly requires a cobalt reverent coat as the primary component instead of raw cobalt ore.

Game Update 44 is here, and, as expected, we have patch notes here and a crafting preview for you here. In addition, there are two new quests in the Journeyman Service series, and you can find writeups here and here. Make sure to check them out, and get a look at the new crafting cloaks!
I am not going to re-highlight everything that is in the patch notes and the preview (yep, there goes Mum making you read again :P), but I will add a couple reminders, and a new guide:
- Your harvesting tools now require that you manually use them to obtain the buff from them (right-click > Use to get the 24 hour buff from each). More details can be found in the Harvesting Tools Quick Reference Guide
- If you already finished the Tradesman Service quest, make sure to right-click on the Grandmaster who gave you the quest and obtain the first of your two new crafting cloaks

We recently had a request for an RSS feed for the front page news on the site. (We have had one set up for the EQ site for a while now, but never got around to adding one for the EQ2 side until it was requested.)
