The hotfix this m*rning included the following:
A speculative fix has been made that should reduce the incidences of lag spikes that have been occurring since Game Update #25.
To translate for folks, they think that they found the problem, and hope this will help everyone who been suffering through lag-storms since GU25.

Game update 25 is now being patched to the live servers. The patch notes are large, and there are many details in them that will be of interest to tradeskillers, including: dress clothes, specialized broker containers that can be placed in your home for online sales, fixes for many recipes/level mismatches, and so on. You can read the full patch notes here.
As mentioned before, we have a gallery set up with images of the dress clothes, and my handy tip for the day for tailors when searching their books for these new recipes is to target the sewing table and use the word "the " as your search criteria. (Recipe information has already been submitted to the database updates forum, but it will likely be a bit before they get entered into the database due to the backlog from LU24.) I will also be updating the Buying & Selling from the Player Market article later today to reflect the new market containers.

Game Update 25 (yes, they're now GU's, not LU's, folks) hit a few snags in the testing phase that they are trying to iron out. Depending on how the fixes pan out in testing today, expect it to be ready to go live tomorrow, including the new dress clothes and the broker containers.

Really, I can read! The SoE forum changes are next month, not this week!
Created By: Niami Denmother
The official SoE forums will be changing over to new software this coming week, so expect their boards (not ours!) to be down for several days, starting Tuesday.
On Tuesday, August 8, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment will be transitioning the EverQuest II Official Forums to an internal forum solution. Transitioning to this new system gives us the opportunity to offer new functionality and update the system as often as needed. The new forums solution gives us greater flexibility and allows us to provide you with a better forum experience.
Your Forum Handles, post counts, posts, etc., will be transferred from the existing forums to the new forums. Bookmarks, subscriptions, friends lists, floated threads, etc. will most likely not transfer over. If you currently use any of these, you will want to make note of them before the transition so that you can set them up once again after the transition occurs.
Forum Ranks (titles) will go through some changes. However, you will automatically receive the appropriate new ranks and titles upon login. Those of you with specialized forum ranks and privileges will be adjusted after the launch of the new forums or shortly thereafter.
During the transition period, the forums will likely be down for several days. A single temporary board will be available during this time. Data will not be transferred from the temporary forum, so don’t get too comfortable there. If any of this information changes, we will post the updated information on the official website and/or in the forums.
Once the new forums are live, we will provide more information on all of the new features.
Thank you and see you on the new forums!

Many thanks to all those contributing information, and to those doing data entry from the contributions! It has been a creative time, marking almost everything in our database as "old" so it won't display again until we're sure it is new information. It is a truly mammoth undertaking, but we're making steady progress. As of this evening, we have over 2500 item records updated in the database (with almost 3K more marked obsolete, and over 11K still needing to be either updated or moved to obsolete). To go with all those items, we now have over 750 recipes into the new format, almost 700 kicked into obsolete status, and another 3000+ old ones awaiting manual comparison to community submissions. Slowly but surely, we are getting there. Thanks, gang.

LU25 has started to hit the Test server, and I have already been over for a sneak peek at things. As always, things can/do change while they are on the Test server, but we can get a good idea of where things are headed.
Recipes for carpenter-made vendor containers have started to show up, that require rare wood. Though we'd hoped they would be ones placed in the home, these are containers for consignment use on the broker. We don't know anything yet about future plans for the consignment system, but I, for one, will be eagerly watching for more details as they hammer the kinks out of things.
While the devs have stated that a lot of the fancier stuff we would like done with clothing will have to wait for some changes to how character models are handled, they managed to dust off the clothing already modeled for bankers and merchants in town and give it some snazzy zing by offering it in many color combinations. These items are tailor-made common "fluff" items that anyone of any level can wear. Again, remember, this is still on Test, but I have thrown together a quick gallery with all the outfit variations.
Edit: There's also speculation about just why they'd suddenly make most dropped earrings lore ... hmmm, think someone's thinking about the fact that we have more than one ear to dangle things from? {grins} Check out the link in the top paragraph for our current discussion on this Test patch.

The patch today includes the following:
- Many minor issues that were a result of the tradeskill revamp have
been corrected.
Please post in our bug submission thread in the forum not only if you find any new bugs, but also if you find something fixed that had been previously reported in as a bug.

A huge thank you to everyone submitting recipe and item information for the database. (Plus a gigantic thanks to those helping with the data entry of that information!) It means a lot to have the community pitch in like this.
While most of the post-LU fixes and tweaks are going on behind the scenes, a few tradeskill items made it to this morning's patch message:
- Harvesting tools will now work with appropriate level artisan calsses as well as adventure level
- The Pristine Conditioned Magician's staff is now a staff instead of a great spear.
- Ironwood Spellbinders Staves now have an appropriate appearance
Last, but not least, please join me in wishing my hubby, the House Ogre, a very happy birthday! While you rarely see him posting around here, due to w*rk and such, this site wouldn't exist without him poking and prodding the database on a regular basis - not to mention how he helps keep me at least semi-sane!
Happy Birthday Ngreth!

As the dust slowly settles on all the changes brought on by LU24, I thought I'd give folks a bit of reading material to poke at over the weekend.
First off, did you ever, as a newbie, mistake a badger for an ore node? If so, know that you're not alone! Check out the first installment of Mum's scribbled Diary of a Compulsive Harvester over at Ten Ton Hammer! Darn those badgers!
Secondly, I have heard a lot of questions and confusion regarding the current broker consignment system, and while the writeup currently lacks "polish", you might want to check out the Buying and Selling from the New Consignment System guide for some handy tips. Also make sure to check out the tradeskill guides section of the site for tons of other updated articles, just in time for weekend crafting binges.
As you are going through your recipe books in-game, please think about helping us re-populate the database with new recipes and item details. Submissions can be posted in the Database Updates Submissions forum.

Today is a big day, with a rather large patch to go with it! You will find several articles in the How To section of the site have already been updated, thanks to a bit of insomnia, and I am updating several more from memory. The patch notes are huge, and are posted on our forums (Hot off the patcher!) If you have been following the Tradeskill Revamp information, you're probably pretty close to information overload by now, but I've managed a post with a few stray Brain Dump items as I think of extra little details that might be confusing.

Lest folks think that all Mum has been doing for the last two weeks is poke and prod at the tradeskill revamp changes that are currently on Test, she took a little side-trip along the way to check out the new adventure pack that is also being released on June 14. Check out this Mum's-eye view of the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack.

This is in the tradeskill revamp document, but it bears repeating. Previously I had stated that when LU24 hit live, it looked like all fungi and any of the food harvests that were removed from the harvesting tables would have a small cash value. This has now been changed. Critter bits (meat/fish) will act as substitutes in same-tier recipes as other critter bits. Everything else from the removed food harvests, and all the old fungi, will act in place of the appropriate tier of roots.

The Test server has been a bustle of activity for the last couple of weeks, as the deadline draws nearer for LU24 and the release of the new adventure pack. For those who have not yet read the Tradeskill Revamp Notes, including the updates to the class-specific information, I strongly recommend that you do so. The information has been updated several times since I originally put up the link, and there's quite a bit of important information in there.
This afternoon, on Test, we were finally able to see the 18 Tier 6 rare furniture items that we'd not had a glimpse of yet. The Tier 6 Carpenter Rares Preview(still on Test) now includes all the new images. These items are slated to go live on June 14, along with the adventure pack release and the release of Live Update 24 to the Live servers.
With regards to the adventure pack, I'll have a more formal writeup done this weekend. In the meantime, I'll just mention that, along with it being geared towards the 55+ adventuring crowd, the first zone (which is "safe" for lower-level folks to explore) also includes a no-combat quest for each of the level 50+ tradeskill professions. (Some crafters may find that they'll need their harvesting skills at 240 before they can complete their tasks, but each quest/profession is a bit different in design, to keep those of us with crafting alt-armies on our toes!) I'll hopefully have a bit more details for you this weekend.

It was a long day on the Test server today, but trundle back in to poke at more things I did, once the evening patch went up. I was deep in verifying which bugs could be crossed from my list, and which still needed to be on my radar, when {pwing!}Friend Purrverse has logged in. This was followed shortly thereafter by her announcing in-channel that the carpenter rares for tier 6 looked like they could be crafted now. Happy, happy, joy, joy. This little redheaded halfling bounced all over. BUT, her two stacks of ironwood for testing were in her guild vault, and there was an issue with guilds on Test this evening. {sadface} Scrimping, scrounging and such occurred, and she was able to make 9 of the 41 Tier 6 carpenter rares this evening. Only 6 were able to be screenshotted, but this is only a temporary setback. {grins} By the time she ran back with the second piece to her room, I was already happily nesting in it, redoing the walls and the floor, dancing on the table (literally, as it was the only way to get a proper shot of the tall bed for this tiny halfling!), and suchforth. I promise, we'll get you more shots, folks. However, Purr and her patient hubby had to call it a night, and once this adrenaline wears off, I suspect I am going to be crashing hard, so you folks are going to have to be patient, too.
Before I lapse too far into a happily exhausted heap, I suppose I should give you the link to the page, hmm? For those who haven't already guessed and leapt ahead to the Furniture Gallery button on the left menu here's the Handy Dandy Preview of the Tier 6 Carpenter Rares (still on Test)

There are a ton of changes going on that impact tradeskills on the Test server right now, and I feel like I am practically living over there as I help get it tested before it hits the live servers on June 14. I know folks must have a lot of questions, so I am rewriting the Tradeskill Revamp Guide to cover the entire shebang: tradeskill revamp, harvesting revamp, broker revamp, potion/poison revamp, society changes, and tradeskill writ changes. It will be just a rough outline at first, but over the next few days, I'll flesh it out a bit more ... I just need to unsnarl my brain a bit, first!

While Curt Schilling and the Red Sox battle the Yankees June 5-7, players in EQ2 will be able to battle a virtual Curt Schilling in EQ2 to help raise money for the ALS Association. ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gherig Disease is a very nasty degenerative nerves disease. To find out more about this event, check out this link.

The tradeskill revamp and alllllll the other stuff that is going on with LU24 is scheduled to be released on June 14, so that it can get some extra TLC while on Test. Among other things, this update will now also include the new adventure pack, a revamp to the merchant system, some facelifts to a couple older zones, and so on. Details can be found here.
