The City Festival for February has begun! This month, it is located in Gorowyn, in the caves off the docks. It will run through February 7, 2010. Further details on the City Festivals can be found here.
UPDATE: Preview images of the 11 Gorowyn-specific vendor items are now up. Thanks, Kaisha!

I got some odd email today from SOE that I need to share with you all. I sense a mystery brewing at the bottom of my SF expansion images preview page. I wonder if the SOE forums will contain more information about this?

Holy overlapping events, Batman! Brace yourself for more flurries of frenzied activity between now and February 16th (the pre-order launch date for the next expansion). While I will not have information on the next City Festival until it actually happens (expected on February 1, I think), I do have information on Erollisi Day, which is expected to run from February 4 through February 16. Sit back, listen to the music from the Shard of Love, and check out this Erollis Day 2010 Crafting article for a preview of the amazing new and returning items that you will be able to craft!

Most of you should know the drill for the monthly Moonlight Enchantments event, so I'll just tell you that, yes, it is that time of the month again, and if you have missed hearing about it, the link above will lead you to information on this event. (It will be running until 11:59pm on the 21st, Pacific).
Meanwhile, the xp curve has been tweaked a bit to make leveling go more smoothly. Here is the blurb from the hotfix today:
We have taken a look at the experience required to gain levels and made some adjustments. Leveling from 1-65 will still require the same overall amount of experience, but the experience required at certain levels has changed. There were certain levels that required much more experience than others, but now the progression should be much steadier. Leveling to 65-75 should be a bit faster now for two reasons. The first is that required experience was lowered some. The second is that quests should give slightly more experience in this range now.
If you desire further details, you can find them in this post on the SOE forums.

I logged on, and gave my xp bars a mouseover just now and found: "The server is awarding 40% bonus XP" and "The server is awarding 40% bonus Tradeskill XP" While there has been no formal word from SOE, I am assuming that both of these bonuses will last through the weekend.

Just a quick reminder that Frostfell and the Kelethin City Festival end tomorrow, January 7. If there is something you wanted to buy/do at either event, get it done now!

See Mum. See Mum sleepwalk! See Kaisha. See Kaisha sleepwalk. Oh, you want something more than zombified redheads? How about the icon images for the Kelethin City Festival that just started less than an hour and a half ago, as we rang in the New Year? Happy New Year, folks! ThuddddZzzZZzzzzzZZzzzz

So, there I was, spending a quiet New Years Eve at home with the hubbyogre, and his visiting mother. I had already commented just a few hours earlier, that it was nice that SOE was pretty much closed for the week, as it gave us both some needed downtime without anything going on, so we could enjoy the visit from his Mom. I am now eating those words.
I decided to do a few things on Facebook before calling it a night, virtuously taking an EQ2 break for a bit. Lo and behold, I see a stats update from my friend Calthine, over at Zam. The first city festival starts tomorrow?! GAH! Ok, erm, um, I will play catch-up as we go along, I guess, and we will get images for you for the Kelethin-specific stuff at some point. (It is the holiday season, after all, and I am not the only one who had other plans for the holidays! :D)
The Far Seas Trading Company is proud to introduce a traveling festival for all to participate in! A different city will be chosen to host this week long event, once a month from the first through the seventh. Gorowyn, Neriak, Qeynos and Freeport will each get their chance to host their version of the event. The great city of Kelethin is the first to find the traveling caravan outside it's gates in Greater Faydark from January 1, 2010 through January 7, 2010. Adventurers will find new quests, collections and rewards, many of which are city specific! And for those of us that don't want to wait for the festival to reach our city's gates, we don't have to. City Tokens are being given as further reward for completing city writs!
As more information becomes available, it will be linked into our already-existing Events page on City Festivals.

As most of you know, we are now in the beta testing phase for the next expansion, Sentinel's Fate. While there is not a lot that can be said, due to the non-disclosure agreement, I found these exclusive images delivered to my mailbox today, for your viewing pleasure. (Click on the images below to view a full-size version of them.)

For some reason, the announcement has not made it to the SOE forums yet, but with a bit of digging around, I found that Station Cash cards redeemed between December 23 and January 3 will be doubled in value. (So, a $10 card will redeem for $20, etc.) What details I have seen can be found over on 'Zam

Just a reminder that it is time for the monthly Moonlight Enchantments event to occur. The 2-day event, which will run from 1 minute after midnight Pacific tonight, through 1 minute before midnight tomorrow night (Dec 20 at 12:01am Pacific to Dec 21 at 11:59 pm Pacific), includes several new items on various vendors. Images of the new items were already added to the appropriate instance pages as part of the GU54 preview.

All SOE game servers will be going down for hardware maintenance starting at 1:00 a.m. PST on December 10 (tomorrow). Due to the hotfix that is also needed in order to turn on Frostfell (which cannot be done while the hardware work is going on), EQII servers will not be coming back up until 10:00 a.m. PST (a 9-hour downtime). For any late-breaking changes or updates to this plan, please check the SOE forum post regarding the downtime.

Here is the official information on GU54 ("Will of a Tyrant") and Frostfell releases:
Will of a Tyrant is planned to go live on December 9th, 2009. While most of the update is a massive bug stomping expedition (the team has their big boots on!) there are a few nifty features that everyone should be sure to check out! The second prelude event to usher in Sentinel's Fate will be made available. Attack Upon the Crowns will run until the next update in February.
So, if you're going to do any more work on the spire events (the vendors will stick around, the quest NPC's will go away), you have less than 24 hours to finish things up!
It's beginning to look a lot like Frostfell, everywhere you zone. Frostfell returns to Norrath starting on December 10th, 2009 after that morning's hotfix and runs until January 7th, 2010 with that morning's hotfix.
(The hotfix on the 10th is expected to be just a quick one to turn on Frostfell.)
For more information on GU54 from a crafting perspective, you can check out my GU54 Crafting & Event Preview.

Kaisha dropped over 70 images on me this week to go with different articles. I have been chipping away at them all day, and still have more to go (and she is working on still more!). Rather than continually updating the front page, you can see the results of my cross-eyed coding in the updates section at the bottom of the GU54 Preview. I will keep updating that as I tackle more chunks of images.

SOE is now accepting applications for the beta testing of the next expansion, Sentinel's Fate. (Note that application does not mean automatic acceptance.) Those of you who attended the Fan Faire this year will be accepted, but you still must go through the registration and NDA process, using the same account that you used for Fan Faire registration. Full details can be found in this thread on the SOE forums.

The patch notes today:
EVERQUEST II FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT The Heroes' Festival has begun! A call has gone out to all Norrathian adventurers to commemorate the five years that have passed since the Refuge Islands first began collecting those lost in the turbulent oceans. Celebrators, happy to share in the festivities, can be found in North and South Qeynos or West and South Freeport.
UPDATE: While I am unable to find any quest starter in SOUTH Freeport, there are glowies there. Quest starters are in West and NORTH (not West) Freeport.

The Moonlight Enchantments event is once again live on all servers, and will be available until tomorrow (Saturday) night, at 1 minute before midnight Pacific time. In addition, we have a sneak peek at the five new house items that are hit Test tonight, that will become available to all servers next month. You can find them either on the grotto pages for Dryad, Brownie and Zygomid Grottos from the above link, or you can find them all happily clumped together in the Grotto section of the GU54 preview.

First off, as part of my continuing updates regarding the upcoming Game Update 54 that is currently on Test, a quick Frostfell introduction is up, as well as a more detailed Frostfell 2009 Craftables Gallery.
Secondly, the Moonlight Enchantments event will be running on the 20th and 21 (Friday and Saturday), starting at 1 minute after midnight (Pacific) on Friday m*rning, and ending 1 minute before midnight (again, Pacific), on Saturday night.
Thirdly, for those of you drooling over the cherry furniture and other goodies that are available for Station Cash, you will be a 25% bonus to any station cash purchased during a special promotional period next week. Details can be found here.

Despite losing a couple hours of writing yesterday to an oops, the main GU54 Overview is now available. It will be updated over the next week or two with articles for Frostfell, the daily RoK crafting faction quests, etc., but it should give you a basic feel for some of what is due to arrive next month. It already includes links to the first set of supporting articles on the upcoming City Festival event, and updates to that article, and several more articles are still to come!
