I found the following event notification on facebook, and wanted to pass it along to folks:
EverQuest II will be celebrating its 5th Anniversary very soon! In honor of this, we'll be hosting a birthday celebration on the Test server!
There will be one party on November 9th at 5pm PST and another at 11am PST (7pm GMT) on November 10th. The party will be held in the Community Lounge and there will be cake, fireworks, and some trivia with prizes! Make sure to update Test well in advance, especially if it's your first time on the server.
I plan on being there for the 5pm one today, and hope to see some of you there!
In addition, Test has just received a big patch that includes testing of a City Festival event that you can check out for yourself if you come over for the birthday party. For those unable to check it out, we will do a preview here on the site, but it will take a few days before I have it written and in place.

I logged onto my server this evening to find the following Message of the Day:
The Nights of the Dead continues to invade Norrath as void shards begin to drop everywhere! From 2pm PDT on Friday October 30th until 10am PST on November 2nd, void shards will have a chance to drop in random chests all across Norrath
Void shards are heirloom (can be shared with alts on the same account via shared bank), and even if you don't have a level 80 adventurer yet, it is a handy thing to be able to stockpile them for future use.

Full hotfix notes are in our forums, but here are the highlights from the Nights of the Dead section:
- Altius Volfban in the Hollow Hedge should be much easier for mage classes to handle.
- The Headless Horseman now spawns somewhere near his tree instead of just in the same spot every time. He also requires someone offer him the necklace instead of simply taking the necklace near him to activate. His respawn has also been lengthened slightly.
- The Nightmarish Ceremonial Armor has gotten a slight change to color.
- The Nightmarish Ceremonial armor should now all have an equal chance of dropping.
- Altius Volfban now has a chance to drop a piece of the Nightmarish armor when killed.
- The Blanket of Fog now comes with a remote so you can turn them on and off. In the off state it should be much easier to tell where they are!

The Moonlight Enchantments event is once again activated, and will run through, October 22 (ending at 1 minute before midnight, Pacific). The event this month also features four new house items (squares), available in the Enchanted Fay Grotto in Greater Faydark
Note that the end time/date has changed! Due to server migrations, and gnomish messes that caused a start delay on these, an extra day has been added to the event!

The good news is that I am feeling a bit better these days, as I settle in with my new meds (Savella). The bad news is that I got sidetracked enough taking care of a backlog of things that my Muse went running away without me. The story is coming, eventually. For now, however, I have thrown alll the Nights of the Dead craftables onto a single page, and linked the recipes and size comparison images to the icons. This will make it easier, I hope, than wading through previews from both years when you just want to craft. Nights of the Dead Craftables

Just a reminder that the Nights of the Dead events will begin a few hours from now, just after midnight Pacific tonight, and will run for 3 weeks. If the muse is kind, there will be a short story put up tomorrow. In the meantime, have you checked out the EQ2TC Nights of the Dead Crafting & Housing Preview yet?

The 2009 Nights of the Dead celebration is currently planned to run from October 16 through November 9. While it is still early to be thinking about such things, since the event has been on Test for a while, I have decided to release the crafting and housing preview for Nights of the Dead 2009. As the release date draws closer, I will throw up a story to go with it as well (I have an idea in mind, but want it to percolate for a couple more days).
In addition, I have added a Stable page to the furniture gallery. This coming weekend, I will be cleaning up the left-hand navigation menu for that furniture gallery to remove a couple links that have been added to the Events section, remove the GU52 page now that the items are in their proper categories, and other such housekeeping goodness. A couple of the changes need the deft touch of the hubbyogre (Ngreth smash!) before I can finish cleaning up the cobwebs.

Taken from the SOE forums:
Greetings Norrathians! There will be a bonus applied to all forms of experience this weekend, starting at 1:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, September 25th and ending at 10:00 a.m. PDT on Monday, September 28th.
And yes, by "all forms", they really do mean, adventure xp, crafting xp and AAxp. Enjoy!

Tomorrow marks the release of Game Update 53. Patch notes have been pre-published on the SOE forums here. For those who missed it, here is a link to the GU53 Crafting & Housing Preview Since the official SOE patch notes also contain mention of the Quellithulian spires event, we are assuming that will go live tomorrow as well. (This means that final token costs for several items will not be known until after launch, as Test has not yet received the patch that will change prices.)
In prep for tomorrow, you will want to make sure that you are camped in a safe place before the patch. (You will need a moment or five to re-allocate all your racial and character traits, and, if you are in high-end dungeon or shard gear, you will need to remove it from overflow and re-equip it, due to the heirloom changes.) You might also want to triple-check your tier 2 common resources and do a harvesting run, if you plan on participating in the crafting portion of the Spires event.

While I mentioned new items with the Moonlight Enchantments event (which was just turned on a few minutes ago), it seems that the items are currently only on Test. Mea culpa, folks. We will have information on the 4 new squares (Mossy, Sandy, Wavy Sand, Rough Plank) up eventually, but we are not going to lose sleep over getting the info up tonight if they are not available yet on the Live servers. :D

I have several items to bring to your attention, as the weekend gets underway here in Southern California ...
A new left-hand menu item has been added to the site, Events, that will cover world events that include either crafting, or large amounts of house items. You will find the events broken down into categories: Recurring, Upcoming, Past Events - Can Still Craft, Past Events - Cannot Craft at this Time. No more rummaging through the news archives trying to find some of the older Frostfell details! Click on that little Events button. You know you want to!
There is already one new article in that section that I want to highlight, the GU53 Spire Event Item Detail. This includes some more detailed looks at these items, explains how the magic mouth works, etc. (As always, thanks Kaisha, for the images!)
Also, it is getting to be that time of the month again! Starting Sunday, September 20, at 1 minute after midnight, PDT, the Moonlight Enchantments Event will be activated on all servers. It will be turned off on Monday night, September 21, at 1 minute before midnight, PDT. New this month will be a few new item offerings, so keep your eyes peeled! (I saw a sandy square to go along with the grassy square, lurking about, and am sure there is more!)
We have added our first Guide Quest writeup to the Quests section of the site. The quest is Axe and Ye Shall Receive, and includes pictures of the 9 decorative house item axes that can be made from the recipe book reward.
Last, but definitely not least, at last check the release date for GU53 has been moved to Wendesday, September 23.
Have a super weekend, folks!

The Test server is really hopping these days! On top of all the testing for the insanely busy GU53, including the achievements system, racial changes, Shard of Love, housing expansions and much, much more, and the testing of the new Nights of the Dead content, another new world event is also now in testing. It seems the Quellithulians are trying to rebuild/repair/relink more of their spire network together, and are encountering some otherworldly opposition. Crafters and adventurers alike will be needed to aid in these endeavors.
While details such as the release date for this event are not yet available, we have learned enough to give you a preview of the event from a crafting perspective. We hope to provide you with more details, including more images and details of the various item rewards, later in the week.
Additional information has also been added to the GU53 Crafting & Housing Preview today, fleshing out the information on the known Crafting Achievements.

... like a chicken with my neck cut off! Yep. I am not even done with the Nights of the Dead Preview (due in part to the distraction of an ant invasion in my home this week), and another new World Event was slipped onto the Test server last night for us to poke at. I will get an article up as time and energy permit. (I just spent many hours poking at it on Test, and am pretty much dead on my feet.) When I have more details, I will post something here, as well as link it to the bottom of the GU53 Crafting & Housing Preview (which had a couple other small notes added to the bottom of it just now).

SOE Games (EQ, EQII, Freerealms, Planetside, Pox Nora, EQOA) will be down for an estimated 12 hours this coming Wednesday.
There will be maintenance on the Session databases across all games on Wednesday September 9, 2009. It will begin at 12AM PDT and is estimated to last until 12PM PDT. All game worlds will be unavailable for the estimated 12 hour maintenance, as well as the Station Store and all commerce avenues. This may affect the performance of the forums and any or all accounts’ abilities to log in.
Updates will be provided on Twitter, for those who follow such things. Details can be found here.

My brain is just too full to come up with something witty right now, so I am just going to drop this one in place and let it speak for itself: GU53 Housing & Crafting Preview Wheeeeee!

GU53 has been patched to the Test and Test_Copy servers, and wow, is there a metric boatload of stuff going on in it! (Check out a copy of the patch notes here Frankly, it is all a bit overwhelming at first or second glance, so it will take me a bit to get a proper preview up. However, I know some of you are champing at the bit, and Kaisha stayed up poking at things all night long, so we have a few pictures already, so here's a mostly furniture-related teaser to tide you over for now.

How about a C-sharp? B-flat?
No, no, nix that, Mum is not going to attempt to sing. However, there are a few things to mention before she and the hubbyogre run away for an anniversary weekend getaway...
The Moonlight Enchantments event was scheduled to end at 11:59 pm PDT tonight (August 21) except for Antonia Bayle, The Bazaar and Sebilis, which spent yesterday in varying states of database indigestion. On those servers, the event will end Saturday (August 22), at 11:59 pm PDT. (Yepyep, Mum is going to miss the extra time, but anniversary with hubbyogre definitely outwins running a few more alts through the event this month!)
Another thing that Mum and the hubbyogre will miss, but that some of you will hopefully get to enjoy is a Bonus AA Exp Weekend running from 1 pm PDT today through 10 am PDT on Monday (August 24). Note that this is AA xp (quest completions, level-capped xp, named mob kills, etc.) NOT adventuring or crafting xp.
One thing Mum will not miss (but will not get much chance to read or respond to until next week), is a transmuting discussion thread by Domino on the SOE forums. This is your chance to read about issues with the current transmuting and adornment system, some of the possible ways to address those issues, and provide your own feedback regarding possible changes. I am sure we have several folks here who would like to voice their constructive feedback, so here is your chance to be heard!
Have a great weekend, folks!
Edit: No, we are not taking BoB, our pet typodaemon, with us when we go. He can stay here and pester you folks some, ok?

Just a reminder:
Get ready Norrath! The phase of the moon is just right and the mushroom rings will be active again for a short time. The event will turn on at 12:01am PDT on August 20th and run until 11:59pm PDT on August 21st. These times apply directly with no time conversion to all servers.
Not familiar with this monthly mini-event, and the lovely items that you can obtain from it? Check out the EQ2TC Moonlight Enchantments guide.
